Dear Parishioners of St. Vincent de Paul,
Can you believe it? Lent begins next Wednesday! Remember it will be a fast day for those in good health so enjoy Tuesday evening. I invite you to start Lent right by joining us at one of our Ash Wednesday liturgies next week. If you wish to learn more about the season of Lent, guidelines, etc. you are welcome to read the presentation I gave at Revival on Wednesday here.
I was asked to write something for the Newsletter this week and, quite frankly, all I can think of right now is to ask you to join me in praying for peace between Ukraine and Russia. Every Lent, we talk about Operation Rice Bowl. This is a ministry of Catholic Relief Services that helps people in need throughout the globe. We will have these available for you this weekend. More information about this ministry can be found here along with ways to donate online.
However, I found an article from a Catholic website a frequent (Crux) that talks about how Catholic Relief Services is going to provide aid to Ukrainian families in the coming days, weeks and months. The article is here if you are interested. If the Spirit moves you, you are welcome to write a check for the collection basket on Sunday to Catholic Relief Services to help in this effort or simply go to their website here.
Meanwhile, as we prepare for Lent, our hearts and minds are with those who will suffer because of this conflict. Let’s pray for peace in our world and for an end to violence in all its forms.
Blessings,
Fr. Frank

As many of you know one of our parishioners, Ted Colby Sanchez, organizes a huge diaper drive through March. You may have even seen him running in a huge diaper with some friends in Federal Way.
This year we are going to be a collection point for March for Diapers. Bring a box of diapers or 10 and drop them at the parish office or in the narthex by the food collection. Our Prepares program benefits from the march. In fact the majority of the diapers we gave away this year came from the March for Diapers.
Be famous when you drop off your diapers take a selfie and shared it to our Facebook page and or use #marchfordiapers. Questions, contact Katie at kgoodson@stvincentparish.org

We will return to two Altar Servers at every Mass very soon.
We’ll be offering one-hour training sessions to prepare for this change. To work around your busy schedule, email Kathleen and Leonard Kessler at kaannke@gmail.com with times that will work for you and your child. Please include your name and your child’s name.
On a separate note: All experienced Altar Servers who would like to serve during Holy Week, especially during the Triduum; Holy Thursday, Good Friday or the Easter Vigil, please let us know. In the near future, we’ll have special training for these, along with rehearsals.
Interested in being a new server?
All children in the 5th grade and above who have received their First Communion may become an altar server. Their parents may email Kathleen and Leonard Kessler at kaannke@gmail.com and provide the following information: your name, your child’s name, birthday, age, attending school, phone number, and which Masses he/she would serve. For more information on this please email Katherine Kessler.
