A few years ago I shared at Mass how much I hate being cold. I grew up in Montana and it isn’t winter if there are not a few days or weeks with below zero weather. I remember getting up and the minute my feet hit the ground I was cold and I would be cold all day until I went to bed that night. Our house was heated by a wood stove and the warmest place in the house was between the pipe that ran to the chimney and the tile wall behind it. I would come home and stand there to warm up. A little fun history about that spot is the fact that I named it the pipe oven but for some reason my dad is positive that he named it. Then not to be left out my mom says she named it. But, God and everyone that matters know that I named it.
I think that the experience of being cold has helped me to love the Pentecost Sequence. The Pentecost Sequence is sung every Pentecost and it tells us who the Holy Spirit is in our lives. One of the lines says, “Bend the stubborn heart and will; Melt the frozen, warm the chill; Guide the steps that go astray.” Whenever we find ourselves going astray or not wanting to do God’s will we can run to the Holy Spirit with the same confidence that I ran to the fire place to warm up. God will warm our heart, show us the way and give us all we need to follow him.
I am writing this on the hottest day of the year so far. I think this part of the Pentecost Sequence is more appropriate. “In our labor, rest most sweet; Grateful coolness in the heat; Solace in the midst of woe.” No matter if we are hot or cold, happy or sad, or somewhere in the middle the Holy Spirit is with us. Come Holy Spirit.

As we prepare to say Farewell to Fr. Bill, many are asking about a gift from the parish to show our appreciation for thirteen years of leadership and pastoring. Due to U.S. tax codes and Archdiocesan policy, the parish is not allowed to show appreciation to a pastor with a monetary gift. Below is the Archdiocesan policy:
-parishioners or others desiring to give a thank you gift should make that gift directly and not through the parish. Parishioners could work together to provide a coordinated/consolidated gift, but the parish should not ever officially ‘touch’ that gift (e.g., handle the money). It needs to be clear to givers that this is not a donation to the parish. The parish could, perhaps through the bulletin or Facebook, publicize that so and so is putting together a gift effort, but that should be the extent of ‘touching the gift’
-if the parish should ‘touch’ the gift, or give a gift directly from parish funds, even if it is just a “pass through” from parishioners, this makes this gift compensation to the receiver, and would be considered taxable compensation.
-the same principles apply to schools etc.
If individual parishioners or groups of parishioners wish to give a gift to Fr. Bill, please give or send it directly to Fr. Bill. You can send it c/o the parish at 30525 8th Ave. South, Federal Way, WA 98003, but clearly addressed to Fr. Bill.
Thank you!

We are 77% of the way to our Annual Catholic Appeal Goal this year! That means we've raised $99,751 of our $129,667 Goal!
We are so close to reaching our goal. Remember all dollars raised above our goal will go towards touch less dispensers on campus.
Did you know that any shortfall to the Annual Catholic Appeal Goal is taken out of our Ordinary Income? Please help us reach this goal!

If you have already made your gift to the Appeal, thank you! If not, please return your pledge envelope today or donate online, click the link below. Thank you!

Father Bill Farewell Mass and Celebration

It is hard to believe that Fr. Bill’s Farewell Masses and Celebration are less than a month away. I hope that you can all celebrate and say good bye to him on June 13. Here are the important things to know.
- Fr. Bill will be celebrating both Masses on June 13.
-
Be sure to join us after the 10:30 Mass (even if you didn’t go to Mass) to celebrate Fr. Bill. We will have lunch catered by Taco Street and time to talk with Fr. Bill. (Socially Distanced) There will be ice cream after the 5pm Mass.
- Please RSVP for Fr. Bill’s party by calling the office or on our website.

Returning to In-Person Mass
On June 19th, we will be re-establishing our Vigil Mass on Saturdays at 5:00 PM. No reservations are required for the vigil Mass (Mass on Sunday continues to be 10:30 AM and 5:00 PM with reservations still required for the time being.)
On July 10th, we will return to our pre-Covid Mass schedule:
Saturday at 5:00 PM, Sunday at 9:00 AM, 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM
No Reservations required
We are currently in Phase 3 of Washington State’s reopening plan. We are able to celebrate Mass with 50% of our building capacity as long as there is six feet of social distancing. We consistently fill the 10:30 AM Mass and usually fill the 5:00 PM Mass. While we are eager and excited to welcome people back to in-person Mass, safety continues to be paramount. Safety protocols continue to be in place. Masks are still required.
We know that not everyone is ready to come back to in-person Mass. Some have not yet been vaccinated, others have underlying medical conditions, some are just not ready. We know this will be a gradual process. However we are glad to welcome back those who are able and ready to be physically present for the celebration of the Eucharist without any restrictions on the number of times you can come to church.
We are deeply grateful to the many parish volunteers who make this possible as well as our dedicated staff. To volunteer to assist with Mass, please call the parish office 253 839 2320.

The Solemnity of Corpus Christi marks the end of the Year of the Eucharist, established by Archbishop Etienne in June 2020. As we bring this special year to a close, Archbishop Etienne will celebrate this special Mass, with Christ’s great commission to send us forth to love and serve. Mass will include a multicultural Eucharistic procession.

Our Prepares program would like to thank everyone who has donated. We have been so blessed that we need more containers to store them in. We are looking for clear plastic containers of varying size for our programs. We are also looking for drawer type clear bins. You can drop them off at the parish office or at mass.
