At this writing Fr. Cyriac is preparing to leave for India tomorrow evening, Saturday, January 16, 2021. His mother suffered a stroke on Thursday and is now in a coma. Please keep his mother, Mary Joseph, Fr. Cyriac and his family in your prayers.
For those unable to attend Mass in church, we encourage you to watch our live stream mass on Sundays at 9:00am and 4:00pm in English or at 1:00pm in Spanish. We offer distribution of the Eucharist each Sunday from 12:15pm to 12:30pm at the back-parking lot entrance. Please remember this is a sacramental experience, beginning next weekend, unless you are disabled, we would like you to receive the Eucharist while standing by your car. If you must remain in your car, we ask that you turn off your radio and take a moment to prepare yourself to receive the Body of Christ. Everyone must wear a mask, except when you receive the host.
Note from Kelly McAloon, Executive Director, Snellville Tourism and Trade:
Congratulations again to St. Oliver's for winning Best tree in the Festival of Trees for the 5th consecutive year. Great job to "ROOTS" Elementary Religious Education for making the ornaments for a most beautiful tree, absolutely loved each handmade ornament. Looked like an old fashion home town decorated tree, just loved it!!! Thank you again to all who participated in making the tree so beautiful and to all those who donated food which registered as a vote for the tree. St. Oliver's ROCKS!!! Many thanks to Aimee Tolmich and her group for heading up the Christmas tree project in 2020. Well done! Many thanks to Matt and Haley Gormley for excepting the proclamation on behalf of St. Oliver's.
The year 2021 marks the 175th Anniversary of the Apparition of Our Lady of La Salette. There will be a nine-day Novena from Wednesday, March 10, to Thursday, March 18.
La Salette statues are available for purchase. You can view the assortment in the Narthex. Call the office for pricing. If you wish to purchase a statue, come by the office. Payment is required before ordering the statue.
RESPECT LIFE This month, in the United States, we commemorate the 48th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade; the Supreme Court decision to legalize abortion in the United States. In mourning the deaths of 61 million babies throughout our country we must continue to call attention to this evil and pray for an end.
Friday, January 22, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed for our Adoration from 9:30am to 12pm giving us the opportunity to pray that our country will soon realize that "A country that kills its children will never have peace": words of Mother Teresa of Calcutta on her visit to the US.
We also plan to pray a Pro Life Rosary at 10:00am, Friday, January 22 during this Adoration time, calling on Jesus' Mother Mary to intercede for us and show us how we can be instruments of peace in this battle for souls. Please come for the Rosary at 10am or drop in during the morning of the 22nd to join us in prayer. Benediction and closing at 12 Noon.
Mass for the Unborn 2021 Due to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases, the 32nd Annual Mass for the Unborn will be virtual this year. The Mass will be aired on Friday, January 22 at noon on the archdiocesan Facebook page, (it will not appear until then). We hope many will join us virtually.
