LIVE THE LITURGY : Inspiration for the Week
What do you really hope and hunger for? We are most familiar with our physical hungers and cravings as they are quite obvious. What we don’t always realize is that we also have emotional and spiritual hungers. Many are starving for acceptance and love. Many others hunger for a sense of purpose, more focused direction, and deeper connection and meaning. Our hungers can easily get confused. We think we are in need of one thing but are actually being driven by another. We need to recognize and pursue our spiritual hungers. If we do not do so, we will attempt to fill these needs with lesser, and not always healthier, things. God, ultimately through the Eucharist, is the only One who can quench our more profound thirsts. Have we discovered this yet?

MISSION CO-OP - AUGUST
Franciscan Missionaries of Hope (Lyke Community)

Every year we get to hear from a missionary from another part of the world. This year because of the pandemic, the appeal will be done online.   This year we hear from the Franciscan Missionaries of Hope (Lyke Community) .

The Franciscan Missionaries of Hope (a.k.a. Lyke Community) was founded in Nairobi, Kenya, in 1993 by nine young men who had undergone their initial formation in the Order of Friars Minor (OFM). Since the foundation of the Franciscan Missionaries of Hope, the community has also been known by an other  name “The Lyke Community”. This name was adopted in memory of Archbishop James Patterson Lyke of Atlanta, Georgia.
Through their Charism of giving hope, they reach out to the most vulnerable in the society from their Parishes - nine in the US + 3 in Kenya (including 19 out-stations/mission churches).   https://www.lykecommunity.org/parish-ministires .

TO MAKE A GIFT to the Franciscan Missionaries of Hope, please send your check to
St. Julie Billiart Parish - in the memo line , please either state that your gift is for the Mission Co-op or for the Franciscan Missionaries of Hope .
