LIVE THE LITURGY : Inspiration for the Week
There is something very sacred about silence. Silence connects us. It is where the heartbeat of all of creation — and its life blood and source — are embraced and where oneness is experienced. When in the presence of an environment that is silent, the worries, tribulations, struggles, and challenges of life seem to fade away, and we can experience a peaceful whisper. We can call that whisper God. Through the practice of contemplative prayer, we can find our way to that inner place of silence even in the midst of great distraction, busyness, and noise. The silence becomes one with us and grounds us. When we become friends with silence, friends with God, we can hear the gentle whisper of God’s voice saying, “Come, stay here. Trust me and you will not fall.”

(19th Sunday in Ordinary Time)
Almighty and everlasting God,
You have taken up body and soul
into the heavenly glory the Immaculate Virgin Mary,
Mother of Your Son: Grant, we beseech You,
that, ever intent upon heavenly things,
we may be worthy to be partakers of her glory.
Through Jesus Christ Your Son, our Lord,
who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit,
One God, forever and ever.
Amen.

STEWARDSHIP & DEVELOPMENT
MISSION CO-OP - AUGUST
Franciscan Missionaries of Hope (Lyke Community)

Every year we get to hear from a missionary from another part of the world. This year because of the pandemic, the appeal will be done online.  This year we hear from the Franciscan Missionaries of Hope (Lyke Community).

The Franciscan Missionaries of Hope (a.k.a. Lyke Community) was founded in Nairobi, Kenya, in 1993 by nine young men who had undergone their initial formation in the Order of Friars Minor (OFM). Since the foundation of the Franciscan Missionaries of Hope, the community has also been known by another name “The Lyke Community”. This name was adopted in memory of Archbishop James Patterson Lyke of Atlanta, Georgia.
Through their Charism of giving hope, they reach out to the most vulnerable in the society from their Parishes - nine in the US + 3 in Kenya (including 19 out-stations/mission churches).  https://www.lykecommunity.org/parish-ministires.

TO MAKE A GIFT to the Franciscan Missionaries of Hope, please send your check to
St. Julie Billiart Parish - in the memo line, please either state that your gift is for the Mission Co-op or for the Franciscan Missionaries of Hope.
SUNDAY OFFERTORY

Your ongoing monetary gifts are greatly needed and appreciated. Your Sunday Offertory gift sustains this parish.

75TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BOMBINGS OF HIROSHIMA AND NAGASAKI
August 6 and 9 mark the 75th anniversary of the bombings of #Hiroshima and #Nagasaki. Since 1945, Pope St. Paul VI, Pope St. John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI, and Pope Francis have all called for peace throughout the world free from nuclear weapons. RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS (RCIA)

An Invitation That Never Ends
  • Have you been worshiping with us, but never officially taken the step to become Catholic?
  • Have you been away from the Church, and have now returned, but want to know more?
  • Have you been a Catholic all your life, but never celebrated all the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist)?
  • Have you joined us from a different background and would like to find out more about the Catholic Church?

If you (“or someone you know”) answers YES to any of these questions, you are invited to find out more through the process called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). It is a journey that begins with your questions. There is no obligation to join us as you discover more about your Catholic faith. The decision is ultimately yours to discern if this is to be your spiritual home. The invitation is always open: RSVP when you are ready! We look forward to welcoming you.
