As April approaches, please consider giving $25 to support Patriots' Day 2024 and 250th anniversary events at Minute Man National Historical Park this season. The Semiquincentennial
events at the park kick off in 2024 with Patriots' Day and span until the 2030s. We will keep you updated on these special events every step of the way!
Your gift provides critical assistance to the park, which offers Patriots' Day events free of charge to thousands of visitors each year. Your support helps provide transportation, training, and supplies to the hundreds of volunteer reenactors who make Patriots' Day living history events come to life. Your donation also helps recreate the sights, smells, and sounds of 1775, including historical clothing for staff, black powder for the weapons, horses for the mounted British soldiers, and oxen for the Battle Road civilian evacuation event. As record attendance is expected for the anniversary years, your help is needed now more than ever.
Give a $25 for the 250th Anniversary gift today and support Patriots' Day 2024 and the 250th anniversary! Thank you for your support.

Women's History: Violet Thayer
Violet Thayer, an African American woman who lived along the Bay Road, knew from her own experience that freedom came slowly during the time of the American Revolution. Enslaved "from infancy" by Ephraim and Elizabeth Hartwell, Violet fought to exercise her own agency at a time when conflict transformed the world around her.

The Hive Was Buzzing with Activity | |
Recording Now Available
We had an amazing turnout for "The Hive: A Symposium for Living History Interpreters" in anticipation of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the beginning of the American Revolution. This annual learning event took place over two days in February and attracted over 130 living history professionals from across New England. Attendees listened to scholarly lectures, learned about visitor engagement, and received training on all aspects of historical impressions, from the correct materials, lace, and buttons to hairstyles and cosmetics.
The Friends of Minute Man is fortunate to work with such talented living history reenactors and interpreters. These folks bring history to life at Minute Man National Historical Park and at historical sites around New England. By providing a full view of life during the American Revolution, from civilians to soldiers, these dedicated volunteers are crucial to Patriots’ Day and other living history events at the park.

Rangers Jarrad, Jim and new team member Bob will soon be heading to Alabama to attend the National Park Service Historic Weapons course. For two weeks, they will practice drills for muskets and cannon and will certify in eighteenth-century weapons and protocols.
Park Ranger Jim Hollister, who serves as the park Historic Weapons Program Coordinator will be instructing several of the classes to park rangers from numerous park sites from across the nation.
This class ensures that rangers are well-trained to provide popular weapons demonstrations and tactical demonstrations at Minute Man throughout the year, including the upcoming Patriots' Day events.
