What a month this has been! Thank you to the estimated 6,000 attendees who celebrated the Park District's 90th Anniversary with us on May 11 at ParkFest. What a great event with fun, music, performances, food, and more. For nearly a century, the East Bay community has supported and trusted the East Bay Regional Park District.
Join us for more fun events throughout the year celebrating 90 years of East Bay Regional Parks, including "Explore Your Parks" programs, festivals, story sessions, picnics, and much more. Thank you for your ongoing trust in the Park District. See you in the Regional Parks!
| In celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community during Pride Month, the Park District will raise the Pride Flag in parks where flag poles are present. Join the Park District in celebrating diversity in parks and creating welcoming spaces for everyone to enjoy. All are welcome. More info. | Juneteenth, June 19, is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. The East Bay Regional Park District is honoring Juneteenth this year with a Free Park Day and special naturalist-led public programs to celebrate and reflect. The Park District is committed to enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion and making the Regional Parks and agency more welcoming and reflective of the communities it serves. More info. | Alder and Leatherwood Creek Restoration and Public Access Project Grand Opening | On May 23, the East Bay Regional Park District held a grand opening and ribbon cutting to celebrate the completion of the Alder Creek and Leatherwood Creek Restoration Project at Sibley Volcanic Regional Preserve in Orinda. This project is the largest creek restoration project in the Park District's 90-year history and the largest creek daylighting project in the entire Bay Area. The project opened up 3,000 linear feet of previously culverted creek and provides habitat for multiple special status and protected species. More info. | |
New Roberts Pool Receives Award for Outstanding Facility | The Roberts Pool project was recently awarded the 2024 California Association of Recreation and Park Districts’ Award of Distinction for Outstanding Renovated Facility. The pool is an important community resource brought to the public by the East Bay Regional Park District. More info. | Fire and Fireworks Safety | Be fire smart and aware of fire danger levels, red flag warnings, and fire safety rules as summer and July 4 approach. Fireworks are not allowed in Regional Parks. The Park District urges all visitors to enjoy their Regional Parks safely and responsibly. More info. |
During the busiest season, keep important safety information in mind when enjoying the Regional Parks to ensure a safe and fun experience for all. Exercise caution and stay safe around wildlife, including ticks, coyotes, and rattlesnakes. Plan ahead and prepare to avoid heat exposure.

Lafayette Ridge Staging Area at Briones Reopens | The Lafayette Ridge Staging Area parking lot has reopened to the public, providing ample parking and access to the Lafayette Ridge Trail. "Lakeside Laps"
Foundation Fun Run
| Lace up your running shoes and hit the trails at the Regional Park Foundation’s Lakeside Laps on July 20 at Lake Chabot Regional Park. Register for the Trout Trot 5K, 10K, or half marathon – all fitness levels are welcome! Lakeside Laps is a running event, in partnership with Brazen Racing, to celebrate the East Bay Regional Park District’s 90th anniversary and support the Regional Parks Foundation. The Finish Line Festival will feature entertainment, refreshments, and a Drake’s Brewing Company beer garden. More info. | |
Briones Pilot Community Meeting | Come share feedback with the East Bay Regional Park District about the completion of the Briones Pilot Project's first year. This two-year project improves the trail experience for all users while protecting habitat. Join the in-person community meeting on Saturday, June 15, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Briones Alhambra Creek Staging Area in Martinez. No registration required. More info. | |
