Meghan Marc has accepted a Teacher's Assistant position. Ms. Marc has a Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing with a minor in Mass Communications from UCF. Her early interest in writing was sparked at just 8-years-old, when she wrote whimsical stories about friends and family, which ultimately motivated her to study writing in college. Ms. Marc is a strong advocate for literacy and wants to encourage students that the art of storytelling is powerful and amazing. She has done wonderful work as a substitute teacher, and we look forward to welcoming her to the team!
Fourth grade students are learning about their new literature circle unit in reading class!
In recognition of National Handwriting Day, 5th grade students analyzed what our handwriting tells us about ourselves, wrote thank you letters, and brought in their favorite writing tool.
Fifth grade students became graphologists and analyzed their peers’ cursive writing samples in order to compile a list of personality characteristics. Then students debated as to whether their graphology reports had any truth to it!
Third grade students worked on designing some ideas for their upcoming Science Expo projects. If you look hard you can see steam coming out of their ears!

Special Day of Empathy
and Love
For the past several years, Park Maitland Students have worked in the gym, on or near Valentine's Day, to package thousands of meals for people in need. The link below is a direct link to donate to our goal of raising money for this year's big event scheduled for February 13th.

Magazine Fundraising Sale
It's time for our magazine fundraiser! This program returns 40% of every dollar back to our school. The money we raise will be used to meet important school goals that benefit our students.
This is the perfect time to renew your current subscriptions! Look for information in your child's folder soon.
Due to inclement weather, the Grade 4 field trip to St. Augustine was rescheduled to Friday, February 1st.
On Tuesday, January 29th, we will be hosting our 2nd annual Vow of Silence for 3rd - 6th grade students. Students can participate by collecting pledges, OR donating $2.00 and wearing black tops with blue jeans/shorts.

K-4 - 2nd grade students are also welcome to participate in the $2.00 black shirt dress down day.

Of course students can choose not to participate at all if they do not wish to be involved.

Follow the link below for more information about this voluntary event.

Judges Needed!

In order to make our annual "Dr. Alan Saffran Science Expo" a success, we need help from our parents! We need approx. 45 judges! If you are interested in volunteering as a judge, please contact Ms. Kitty Williams at kwilliams@parkmaitland.org to add your name to the list!
KoPIXmo will be taking large, black and white photos of students at school this week, Monday, Jan. 28th - Wednesday, Jan. 30th. There is nothing special that parents need to do for these engaging, casual photos but look forward to receiving something special!

Please click on schedule below to see when your child's portraits will take place. Keep in mind that these photos are close ups of the child's face, however a small portion of the shirt will be visible. This may affect your clothing choices for children scheduled on Tuesday, January 29th, Vow of Silence black shirt dress down day.

(Please note: Teacher pages are not updated for
the following week until Sunday at 4:00 p.m.)
