This month at Park Maitland we will be focusing on Habit #2:
"Begin with the End in Mind"

To "begin with the end in mind" means to set goals, make plans, and follow through all the way to the end to reach those goals.

Share  THIS  video with your children to help them remember what it means to
"Begin with the End in Mind!"
Don't forget, Thursday, October 11th is an early dismissal day for students!

Early Dismissal Day Times
All students will be dismissed after they have had lunch according to the following schedule:

K-4, Grades 1, 3, and 5 -- 11:35 a.m. - 12:00 p.m
Gate opens at 11:35 a.m. -- closes at 12:00 p.m.

K-5, Grades 2, 4, and 6 -- 12:13 p.m. - 12:45 p.m.
Gate opens at 12:15 p.m. -- closes at 12:45 p.m.

If you have a lunch "A" child that needs to go home after lunch "B," please send in a note to that effect. We will have supervision in the gym for those children.

AfterCare Options
You will have the option of picking up your child at the assigned early dismissal time, or they could go to our "Club Eagle AfterCare" program. "Club Eagle" will provide special child care for students who are not actively enrolled for only $15 per child. Pick up must take place during regularly scheduled carpool time.

Simply contact Club Eagle by email at  aftercare@parkmaitland.org   or by calling   407.647.3038  , ext. #159. Children who attend AfterCare regularly can follow their usual after school protocol.

*All after school clubs and activities are cancelled on Thursday as well*
It's almost that time of year when festive fruits will line our driveway welcoming each of you with their friendly or fiendish demeanor. 

The contest will be held the week of
October 22nd. The official entry form will be sent home this week!

This event is SUPER FUN for our sweet
parent volunteers!
We would like to honor our veterans by inviting them to attend a special "Veteran's Day" assembly on Friday, Nov. 9th! If you or your family members that are veterans would like to attend this special event, please fill out the below form by Friday, Oct. 26th so that formal invitations may be sent by mail.
We wish that we had the space to invite all of our families, but space is very limited during assemblies, and we must limit attendance to veterans and their families only.

Our first skate party of the year will be held on October 11th from 6:30 - pm 8:15 pm at Semoran Skateway in Casselberry. Tickets can be purchased for $6 in advance, OR $7 at the event.

5th graders had an absolute blast at our 6th grade sneak peek event. They can't wait to be SUPER SENIORS next year!
6th graders in Mrs. Keckley's class are working on their gothic fiction stories. This outstanding Detective piece was written by Hudson H.
Mrs. P taught our K4 students all about the letter P this week, and they celebrated with a Pirate Parade!

1st grade students estimated the weight of a pumpkin (12 pounds, 2 ounces) in math class. First they lifted a 5 pound bag of sweet potatoes, and then made their best guess for the pumpkin weight.

We offer our sincere thanks to the Maitland Police Department for providing on-site support while we waited for our gate to be completed. We are grateful for their assistance during that time!
An email went out earlier this week indicating our new security gate code. Please and let us know if you did not receive this email.

The front gate should be utilized to enter the school unless you are parking at the Enzian during an event or chaperoning a school trip. Security will open the back gate and check in parents on event days.

We are so proud to welcome Ms. Carol T. Miller L.C.S.W. to Park Maitland School! Ms. Miller is the Founder and Director of Social Bridges ® . She holds a Master's Degree in Social Work, and a Bachelor's Degree in Education/Drama Therapy, Florida License #SW7648.

Ms. Miller has worked with children for over 30 years in a variety of therapeutic settings. Ms. Miller co-authored the curriculum for both the Social Bridges ® clinic and school-based programs. In addition, she provides professional development for educators and mental health professionals, social coaching and counseling throughout Florida.

We are happy to announce that registration for flag-football is now open and will close on October 17th.  The registration portal will close at exactly 12:00am on October 18th and we will not accept any more registrants after that time. Please follow the designated link below for flag-football to register your student. You will be able to complete your registration, uniform order, and make payment all in one stop. We look forward to a fun and exciting flag football season!

The 2018 Orlando Maker Faire is approaching! Come out on Saturday-Sunday, November 10th-11th 2018, at the Central Florida Fairgrounds! Maker Faire Orlando is a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning and who love sharing what they can do. From engineers to artists to scientists to crafters, Maker Faire is a venue for these makers to show hobbies, experiments, projects. It is coined the Greatest Show (& Tell) on Earth – a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness.

For the first time ever, Park Maitland 3rd-6th graders are designing and hosting their own creative booths! Sign-ups for these students will be released soon from 3rd-6th grade Design Thinking teachers! K4-2nd grade students are encouraged to attend the Maker Faire, come by the Park Maitland booths, and enjoy the Faire too!
