"Begin with the End in Mind!"
Many of our students wanted to help the many people right here in Florida whose lives were impacted by Hurricane Michael. We are happy to host a dress-down day this Thursday, October 18th.

For $2 (or the donation amount of their choice) students pay participate. On dress down days, students can wear “fun” or festive tops or tees. Students should wear uniform bottoms on these days unless otherwise announced.

We are so grateful for our caring students that love to give back!
Our recent assembly was truly an amazing showcase of Hispanic Heritage as one unified school! This celebration would not have been possible without the combined efforts of our outstanding Spanish department led by Ms. Christina Martinez. Students, teachers, and families from all backgrounds came together in such a beautiful celebration of people and diversity. This celebration would have not been possible without the amazing contributions from each and every one of you! From the beautiful Molas by Ms. Leider and her K5 students, to the flash mob styled West Side Stories performance led by Mrs. Eleazer and our Super Seniors. We loved the De Colores melody led by Mr. Eleazer and our 5th graders, as well as each Spanish hero represented by students from 4th, 5th and 6th grade. This was a beautiful tribute of student-led pride, leadership, and celebration of Hispanic culture!
These Park Maitland students took advantage of their half-day off yesterday and volunteered their time bagging over 1000 hygiene kits for people in need. Way to put our Core Values into practice... We are so proud!
Our 2nd grade students and teachers truly enjoyed their time with Mr. Jones, Senior Manager of Accessibility and Services for Guests with Disabilities at Disney. Mr. Jones spoke to the children about empathy and Deaf culture. He taught signs, shared stories and had a very interested and eager audience! A huge thanks to Ms. Nicholson for helping to make this experience possible! The students had great questions, he shared stories, and he taught the students several signs. It was wonderful!
Enjoy this Thank You message that our 2nd grade class created to send to Mr. Jones and Ms. Nicholson.
We want to thank everyone who participated in our skating party AND our annual garage sale. We raised $390.00 from the skating party, and a whopping $1,207.00 from the garage sale! What a great way to kick off our campaign to help bring technology and design thinking to Killarney elementary and build toward our goal to package 25,000 meals in February for those in need.

Mr. Rassa's homeroom had the highest attendance at the skating party and will get their coveted golden skate on Monday.
It's almost that time of year when festive fruits will line our driveway welcoming each of you with their friendly or fiendish demeanor.

The contest will be held the week of
October 22nd. The official entry form will be sent home this week!

* in addition to the morning drop off times for pumpkins we will also offer a 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm drop off time on Tuesday the 23rd and Wednesday the 24th. Thank you to Ms. Ray who has volunteered to be here to assist with drop offs those two days.*
