This Week’s Park Maitland School Community COVID Case Update

This week’s community case number is 3.

We continue our utmost efforts to ensure the safety and health of the students, staff and guests.

We thank our school community for your cooperation, patience and flexibility.

Dear Families,

Next week, Super Seniors are headed to Washington, DC. This has been a tradition at Park Maitland for at least 40 years. We wish the seniors a fun and safe trip. This has been, and always will be, a 6th-grade experience, and one that Park Maitland Alumni always remember and reminisce about.
Each year a group of Super Seniors is chosen to participate in the wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery. The winners this year are Anika Hans, Evelyn Haas, Madison White, and Aiden Szubinski.
As always, the group will share pictures throughout the trip, and we can’t wait to share them in next week’s Weekly Rewind and Newsletter.
Below is a picture from the 6th grade class of 1995 standing on the steps of the Capitol building with founder Nell Cohen and member of The United States House of Representatives at the time Bill McCollum.

Congo River
Thursday night was our Congo Golf FUNraiser event!

We sold over 120 tickets, 45 slices of pizza, and there were even a few hole-in-one's scored on the course. Overall, we have raised $6,897.00 toward our goal of $7,100.00. The money is being used to package 25,000 meals for those in need in Central Florida. Thank you to all of the We Schools in Action helpers who worked the event, thank you to all of the families who bought tickets, and thank you to everyone who showed up ready to play during the event. What a great night!

We will have one more fundraising effort on February 10th to reach our final goal. Way to go, Hunger Heroes!

Alma

We encourage every family to check their ALMA account on a weekly basis. Checking your account regularly will allow you to view any incidental charges and/or updates to your account and more importantly allow time if there are any adjustments that need to be made prior to the billing due date. As we are coming to the end of the month, please check now for any unpaid fees. Please be reminded that monthly tuition billing, will load to your account on the 1st of each month. All charges are due by the 5th of the month.  If your family is signed up for ACH, all monthly charges will draft on the 3rd. Late payments will incur a 1.5% late fee charge. We appreciate your efforts and partnership to meet these expectations.  Please do not hesitate to contact the Business Office with any questions and/or concerns.
EXTRA MASKS

Please be sure to pack extra masks in your child's tote bag or backpack each week, just in case they are misplaced, broken or stinky after a long, hot day. We appreciate your continued support in ensuring our students remain safe and healthy while at school.
Teacher Tuesday
I come to Park Maitland with a curiosity dating back over 20 years. I was fortunate to have received an invitation by my neighbor’s daughter to attend “Oklahoma” presented by her class at Park Maitland School. I accepted her invitation and went to see the production of Oklahoma presented that year at the Bob Carr Auditorium. Wow!! That’s all I could say that night. It gave me my first glance into the amazing talent of these students from Park Maitland as well as the amazing support system these students had. That event left me with a positive impression of this school. Although I was always curious about the private school I drove by each morning on my way to the public school, I never thought that one day I would have the opportunity to be a part of this community. After retiring from Orange County Public Schools with 37 years of experience, a good friend of mine, convinced me to apply for a position that opened up here. I am so glad I did! Here was my opportunity. Hidden away, right in my own backyard, is a gem of a school! Thank you all for making me feel welcomed this year. So far, my favorite memory has been the St. Augustine field trip. It was a beautiful day. The kids were attentive and well-mannered and the parents were awesome!

Outside of spending time here at Park Maitland, I have been busy with painting, redecorating, and shopping for our home that we are renovating. My free time is spent at home with my husband and Sparta (my cat), Skyping on the weekends with my grown children, and traveling to see family.
