Park Maitland School Newsletter
This week's Park Maitland School Community case number is 0

Through contact tracing, to date we have had no cases of on campus transmission of COVID-19. This reflects the safety measures that our school has put in place and the cooperation of our school community.
Ava O. usually wears her riding clothes, but on this day, her Super Senior Shirt was the right fit.
Happy Friday everyone!
Park Maitland Families,

Thank you to all of you who participated in our virtual parent nights this week. We can’t wait to see the rest of you next week. The purpose of parent night is for you to get to know your child’s teachers better and learn more about the school’s curriculum and academic content. It also allows you to know what to expect throughout the school year regarding regular communication from the teachers and special events. We also always encourage you to reach out to your child’s teachers if you ever have any questions, commendations, or concerns.

Believe it or not, next week will be the start of the fourth week of school. We have had an amazing start to the school year and truly appreciate all the support you have provided. The campus is vibrant and alive, and kids are learning, laughing, and loving school. This energy is what makes Park Maitland special.
We hope you all have a great long Labor Day weekend, and we can’t wait to see you next Wednesday.

We encourage every family to check their ALMA account on a weekly basis.

Checking your account regularly will allow you to view any incidental charges and/or updates to your account and more importantly allow time if there are any adjustments that need to be made prior to the billing due date.

As we are coming to the end of the month, please check now for any unpaid fees.

Please be reminded that monthly tuition billing will load to your account on the 1st of each month. All charges are due by the 5th of the month.

If your family is signed up for ACH, all monthly charges will draft on the 3rd. Late payments will incur a 1.5% late fee charge. We appreciate your efforts and partnership to meet these expectations.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Business Office with any questions and/or concerns.
Hurricane Ida Giving Back

Our wonderful super senior, Aiden S., wanted to help the many people in New Orleans, LA whose lives were impacted by Hurricane Ida.

"Hi everyone, my name is Aiden Szubinski and I am from New Orleans, LA. My family has a home there and all of my extended family still lives in the greater New Orleans area. As you may know, Hurricane Ida devastated my city and over 30 towns surrounding New Orleans shutting off the power grid and creating severe wind damage to most infrastructures. As a result, all of New Orleans citizens are displaced without power or water and many towns in southern Louisiana are still completely flooded. I am creating this fundraiser to help the citizens of my city. All off the proceeds will go to World Central Kitchen, which has been providing 50k meals a day to everyone in the area, and the Cajun Navy Foundation, the first responders that have been working day in and day out to provide relief from Ida. My mom and dad are committed to matching all donations raised. I am so thankful to be apart of our special Park Maitland Community."

We are very proud to host a fundraiser dress-down day this
Thursday, September 9th.

For $2 (or the donation amount of their choice) students may dress down. Students can wear their favorite sports team in honor of college sports beginning for the fall. Students may wear casual shorts, hats, and/or accessories, but please make sure that all clothing conforms to the dress code in terms of style and fit.
Dear Park Maitland Families,

This school year marks my 35th year in the teaching profession. Though I have spent most of my career in a classroom setting, I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling Education back in 1992. I shadowed another counselor at the time whom the students called The Sunshine Lady. From that experience alone, I only ever wanted to become another Sunshine Lady. I can honestly say that I have been extremely blessed in choosing the right career path for myself, and I have absolutely loved what I have done.

With our word Strength as our theme this year, it is only fitting that I use all of my strength to announce that I have resigned from Park Maitland School. This has not been an easy decision, but due to family circumstances, the timing is right. After 35 years of counseling at a number of schools, it is right that I am ending my educational career at Park Maitland. As the saying goes, “I saved the best for last!”

I need each and every one of you to know that I have loved building relationships with you and your families, and I will miss you greatly. Continue to give your children the roots and wings they need to be strong in life--roots that keep them grounded to who they are, and wings to help them fly and test their wings at independence.

It has been a privilege to be a member of this Park Maitland Family. This Sunshine Lady loves you all.

Dot Day!

We are excited to announce that Park Maitland School will be participating in DOT DAY again this year! Dot Day is based on the book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. It's a story about a caring teacher who dares a doubting student to trust in her own abilities by being brave enough to “make her mark”. What begins with a small dot on a piece of paper becomes a breakthrough in confidence and courage, igniting a journey of self-discovery and sharing.

We will celebrate by wearing "dots" on
Wednesday, September 15th.

Virtual Parent Night Reminders
Mark your calendars for "Virtual Parent Nights"!

We continue grade level Parent Night events next week. After carefully reviewing our options, we decided that moving to a virtual Parent Night format is best. As you know health and safety are extremely important to us at Park Maitland. Due to the current sensitive circumstance, we feel this is best at the present time.

This will be an informative evening where you will hear from your child’s teachers regarding the curriculum and learning experiences you can expect for your child(ren) this year. Homeroom teachers will be providing information for you including the zoom links needed to participate and the Curriculum Guide that contains valuable information regarding each of your child’s classes.

Thank you for your continued partnership, and we look forward to seeing you soon.
