This Week’s Park Maitland School Community COVID Case Update
This week’s community case number is 9 individuals. Through contact tracing efforts, we have been able to identify and isolate individuals who have been potentially exposed to COVID positive cases. We recognize that there has been an uptick in cases in the last couple of weeks, and are addressing each case individually, while also making the appropriate adjustments to the academic program as needed to keep students safe.
We continue our utmost efforts to minimize transmission on campus.
We thank our school community for your cooperation and continued adherence to the safety measures that our school has put in place.

207 Park Maitland Students skated the night away--a great way to kick off our first school-wide skating party. Park Maitland's ambassador programs raised over $400.00. Our winner of the Golden Skate trophy, with the most student attendance, was Mrs. Keckley’s homeroom.
Happy Friday, everyone!

Park Maitland Families,
It is with great excitement that I write to you as the new Principal of Lower School. I am truly honored and humbled to be given this opportunity to serve at a school with such a rich tradition of rigorous academics and character education as implemented by my great colleague and mentor, Mrs. Wood. Along with the teachers and staff, I will work hard to continue the partnership legacy established by Mrs. Wood by building strong relationships with parents and students. I am excited to bring my skills and experience as an educational leader to Park Maitland and collaborate with you to help your child become a lifelong learner and problem-solver with a heart for service.
Our Park Maitland family has been growing! We are at capacity for K4 at the main campus and nearing capacity in other grade levels. If you are aware of a family that is interested in Park Maitland, please let them know it is a great time to join us! The 2021-22 school year is off to an amazing start as we continue to provide engaging academic experiences that foster curiosity through real-world connections.
My door is always open, and I welcome your input. Please feel free to contact me to discuss your concerns, suggestions, or ideas you might have throughout the school year.
Warmly,
Jeanette Lukens

Parents... Any request for children being picked up by someone other than the usual driver, you will need to call or contact us before 1 pm on that day. This will ensure we are able to communicate with staff and children ahead of time.
|
We encourage every family to check their ALMA account on a weekly basis.
Checking your account regularly will allow you to view any incidental charges and/or updates to your account and more importantly allow time if there are any adjustments that need to be made prior to the billing due date.
Please be reminded that monthly tuition billing will load to your account on the 1st of each month. All charges are due by the 5th of the month.
If your family is signed up for ACH, all monthly charges will draft on the 3rd. Late payments will incur a 1.5% late fee charge. We appreciate your efforts and partnership to meet these expectations.
Please do not hesitate to contact the Business Office with any questions and/or concerns.

Swim Instructor Kailey Morris
|
|
Ms. Kailey Morris is very excited to join Park Maitland School! She is moving to Florida from Baltimore after starting a new swim team and running the swim lesson program at the Meadowbrook Swim Club located in Baltimore, MD.
Prior to Baltimore, Ms. Morris spent 8 years at the Chelsea Piers Aquatics Club located in Stamford, Connecticut. At Chelsea Piers, she was the Head Age Group coach and Director of the Swim School. Ms. Morris has worked with all levels of swimmers from children as young as 8 weeks old, children just starting off in their swimming journey and becoming safe in the water, to a four-time USA Swimming National Age Group Record holder who won a silver medal in the Tokyo Olympics this past summer.
Before moving to Connecticut in 2012, Ms. Morris spent two years (2010-2012) coaching with North Baltimore Aquatic Club. She worked with various age groups within the club working with children between the ages of 12 and 16. From 2010-2012, she also coached with Loyola University Maryland.
As a swimmer at Penn State, Ms. Morris was a three-time NCAA qualifier and three-time honorable mention All-American. In multiple events, she ranks in the top five in Penn State’s history. She is a graduate of the Smeal College of Business where she majored in marketing and was a two-time academic all-big ten. As a former member of North Baltimore Aquatic Club, she was ranked in the top 50 in the world in the 200 Butterfly. She competed at the 2008 Olympic Trials in multiple events where she finished in the top 25 and the 2009 World Championship Trials where she swam in the Consolation Finals in multiple events.
Children and swimming are her passions, and she is looking forward to helping all of the students at Park Maitland School!

This is my 5th year at Park Maitland but my 22nd year teaching. I grew up always wanting to be a teacher and wanting to make learning fun for my students. I love watching the joy on my students' faces when they take on a challenge and succeed. I am so happy my life's path brought me to Park Maitland. The wonderful families and supportive staff are just two of the many reasons this place is so special to me.
A favorite memory I have from Park Maitland is watching my second graders celebrating their VIP during Across Generations. It is so special to watch an older generation being celebrated by younger loved ones. Seeing the smiles on everyone's faces is such a wonderful feeling. I also love getting to know my students and learning about their lives outside of school.
Outside of my life at Park Maitland, I love spending time with my family and jogging. We are having a fantastic time going to UF games this year and cheering on our son, Mason's, new school. Go Gators! You can also find me and Mr. Berzovich cheering on our daughter, Julia, playing High School and M&D travel lacrosse.

Off to a great start!
Next week, look out for third grade students and Critter Crew members manning "Pet Bandana Sale" tables near the front office at morning carpool and during lunch A! Sales will begin on Tuesday.
Ms. Dawson's science & social studies class has had the opportunity to reach out and lend assistance at a very difficult time for the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando. They have created pet bandanas that will be sold on campus with one-hundred-percent of the proceeds being given to the Alliance after their recent devastating fire. All of the amazing third-grade students would like to express their gratitude to the Park Maitland families who have participated at this time of need. We LOVE our pets, and we are so honored to be of service to our community!
