Middle and Upper School Students Participate in All-District and All-Region Band and Honors Orchestra Performances

Congratulations to the PT students who participated in the Central Indiana All-District and All-Region Band performances, as well as two Indiana Honors Orchestra Performances.

Middle School students Mason Bohm, Hadley McGrath, Sadie Shanks, Cara Zeng, and Riley Dusko were selected to perform with the Indiana All-Region Band as part of a 100-student ensemble from the Central Indiana area. They performed on Sunday, November 12, at Riverside Middle School in Fishers, Indiana, under the direction of Mr. Bill Stultz.

Upper School students Junmo Kang and Khushi Shah were selected to perform with the Indiana All-District Band as part of a 100-student ensemble from the Central Indiana area. They performed on Sunday, November 19, at Shelbyville High School under the direction of Dr. Jon Noworyta, director of bands from the University of Indianapolis.

On Saturday, November 18, Jada Jones and Lorelei Davis represented Park Tudor in the South Central Middle School Honors Orchestra at University of Indianapolis. On Sunday, November 19, Garret Hur, Arie Jones, and Justin Li represented Park Tudor in the Indiana High School Honors Orchestra at Franklin Central High School. Mr. Valencia coached violin sections during both of the festival days.

* Senior Jathan Pai has officially been named a finalist in the 2023-2024 Good Citizen DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) Writing Contest. The contest is open to students in public, private, and parochial schools, and registered home study programs. Essays are judged for historical accuracy and adherence to the topic, in addition to their persuasiveness. The question Jathan grappled with this year was “What are the civic responsibilities of a good citizen and why are these duties, activities, and behaviors important to the shaping of the America you hope to experience?” The Jonathan Jennings Chapter DAR Award Luncheon for Jathan and the other finalists for the awarding of honors and scholarships will be on March 14, 2024 at the Woodstock Club.

* On Saturday, December 2, 10 Park Tudor students competed in the Herron Achaean Invitational Quiz Bowl Tournament at Herron-Riverside High School. Our Panthers faced off against more than two dozen other teams from schools across central Indiana in a full day of fast-paced contests testing their knowledge in subjects ranging from science and opera to geography and sports. Park Tudor fielded two very competitive teams and, though they did not quite make it to the podium, siblings Insia and Sameer Zaidi were recognized as being among the top scorers in the tournament. Other participants included Alex Cheng, Ary Das, Emily Hackwelder, Aashiv Jain, Joseph Mokaya, Rabaile Rahman, and Maddie Xu. Congrats on another strong showing by our Park Tudor Quiz Bowl team!
