Spring Time, Fun Time at

Parker Jewish Institute!

Spring has finally arrived, bringing with it the gentle warmth of sunlight and fresh air of the great outdoors. At the Parker Jewish Institute, our Park at Parker and our first-floor and lower-level patios are beautified for spring and summer. We take pride in creating a scenic and tranquil outdoor campus for our patients/residents and visitors. We hope our outdoor amenities make the time you spend with your loved ones here at Parker even sweeter and more memorable.

110 Years of Loving Life

On Friday, February 28, 2025, Parker celebrated resident Ernestine Berry’s 110th birthday. Family, friends, and our devoted team members, who provide care for Ernestine, gathered in the Parker Auditorium to celebrate this monumental milestone. Members of the media also attended to highlight the birthday celebration, and to showcase the extraordinary life Ernestine continues to live.

A Holi Celebration

On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, Parker hosted its annual Holi celebration. This Hindu holiday, which marks the arrival of spring, honors the divine love between the God Krishna and Goddess Radha. Hosted in the Parker Auditorium, patients/residents and families, both of Hindu and non-Hindu faith, joined together for prayer and a fun celebration filled with poetic readings, music and dance performances.

Celebrating Passover and Easter

This year the Jewish holiday of Passover and the Christian Holy Week of Easter overlapped. Parker’s Therapeutic Recreation Department hosted an abundance of interactive and inclusive activities that emphasized joyful celebrations, while also recognizing the sacredness of each religious holiday. Services were held for both Passover and Easter. Patients/residents of all backgrounds and religions were happy to take part in the holidays of their friends.

Minute to Win It

A little competition can be good for the soul. Such activity fosters motivation, nurtures growth, and helps people strive for excellence. That’s why Parker encourages our patients/residents to participate in games that ignite an enthusiasm to bring their best selves. In February, Parker hosted a series of Minute to Win It games. Here, patients/residents competed against one another in hilarious, nail-biting, high-energy games, such as Shaving Cream Shower Cap Cotton Toss, Giant Pong, and Elephant Ball Tip. The games were met with enthusiasm by patients and residents alike.
