We Got That Summertime ‘Funness’

Summer 2025 is blessing us with endless days of sunshine, and the Parker Jewish Institute is celebrating the season to the fullest. Our patients and residents have been soaking up the good weather with a variety of outdoor activities, from lively pickleball, volleyball and other games to celebrations and energetic outdoor concerts. Popular gathering spots such as Parker’s outdoor park on the first floor and our lower-level patio – complete with a charming koi pond – are favorite places to relax and enjoy the company of family and friends. And when temperatures soar, we keep everyone safe and comfortable, by bringing the fun and engaging activities indoors.

Family Day at Parker

On Friday, July 11, 2025, the Parker Jewish Institute’s Indian Cultural Committee hosted its Annual Family Day celebration. This holiday rejoices in the constellation of love that makes each family unique. The holiday reflects on the strength of the bonds and commitments we share with those in our lives – whether they are relatives by blood or close friends we’ve embraced as family. Family Day is a festive occasion with entertainment and food. The heartwarming event brings much joy to our patients/residents, staff and families.

The Jewish Culture Club

Parker Jewish Institute's Jewish Culture Club recently came together for a powerful discussion on current events and the thought-provoking book "Antisemitism in America: A Warning," by Senator Chuck Schumer. Residents, staff and volunteers across generations, shared meaningful perspectives that sparked insightful conversation and connection.

L A Blacksmith leads outdoor wellness concert

This summer, Parker Jewish Institute hosted a series of dynamic L A Blacksmith concerts. A Parker favorite, L A Blacksmith invigorates mind and body through music with engaging rhythms. L A Blacksmith, a talented musician and entertainer, guides the audience in exercises that are designed to boost nitric oxide and enhance heart-rate variability. This promotes healthy vagal tone and may reduce risks of dementia and other conditions.

Mahjong Club

The Mahjong Club is another popular interactive social activity at the Parker Jewish Institute. Lead by one of our dedicated volunteers, our patients and residents are quickly learning the rules of this 20th century, Chinese tile-based game. Since the club’s inception at the beginning of the year, games have become more intense and competitive. This fun activity helps keep club members mentally sharp and socially connected.
