New Year, New Memories

There is so much to look forward to this year and so many great memories from the year before. As we continue our positive momentum into a stellar 2025 year, we would like to reminisce on a few noteworthy highlights from the past few months.

Parker Jewish Institute welcomed 2025 with lights and smiles. On Tuesday, December 31, 2024, Parker hosted a “Sea of Lights” and Ball Drop celebration for our residents, patients, family members, and staff. Members of Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department, the New Hyde Park Fire Department, SeniorCare EMS, and 105th Precinct – NYPD, were there to support the Sea of Lights celebration.

We Voted!

At Parker Jewish Institute we were proud in guaranteeing that all eligible voters, were afforded the opportunity to participate in voting in the November 2024 Election. Voters cast their ballots for federal, state and local offices. Many of our patients/residents served in the military. Just as our veterans protected our institutions in the past, Parker continues to protect all their rights, including their right to vote.

Celebrating Diwali

On Thursday, November 14, 2024, Parker Jewish Institute’s Indian Cultural Committee hosted its annual Diwali Festival. Our auditorium was transformed into a lavishly decorated temple, most fitting to celebrate the Hindu festival of lights.

Mastering the Smartphone

Parker Jewish Institute’s Therapeutic Recreation Department are hosting a series of interactive in-person training series to cover the basic functions of both Andriod and iPhone smartphones. In this series patients/residents learn to personalize their screen, add and edit their contact menu, take pictures and videos, in addition to exploring apps that would be of their own individual personal interest.

Valentine's Day at Parker

Parker Jewish Institute’s Therapeutic Recreation Department hosted a series of festivities from Thursday, February 13, 2025, to Friday, February 14, 2025, in celebration of Valentine’s Day. During this joyful celebration of love and friendship, patients/residents enjoyed a screening of the 1993 critically acclaimed romantic comedy, Sleepless in Seatle, and Valentine themed games, and arts and craft projects. The celebration concluded with a Valentine’s Day Social Party, with musical entertainment from Julia Leigh, and Alex Alezander.
