A Note From Our Staff

We wanted to provide our church family with a timely update on some recent events at Parkgate.

On Monday morning, Pastor Andrew and Janet received some unsettling/threatening phone calls from a private number. After reporting the calls to the Pasadena Police Department, we received word of similar incidents occurring at other churches in the area.

Out of an abundance of caution and care, we elected to keep our church office doors locked throughout the week. We also asked members of our security team to be on-site during midweek programming on Wednesday.

We are grateful God led us to these decisions, as a domestic disturbance in the neighborhood adjacent to our property caused security team members to notify the Pasadena Police Department. Nothing took place on-site and we kept our building locked for the duration of the evening, with the exception of one entrance which was monitored.

Due to the nature of these isolated events and further reports of suspicious behavior at area churches, we will be heightening some simple security measures at Parkgate the next few weeks.

During the week, our office doors will remain locked. You can access the building by ringing the doorbell and we will be happy to let you in.

On Sunday mornings, you may see an increased security presence on the campus. Only the main church doors will remain unlocked. You may notice an increased security presence on Wednesday evenings as well.

We are asking our Parkgate family to help us in the following ways:

• Parents, please have a conversation with your kids and/or students. We are discouraging children or teens to be unsupervised to the back portion of our property. An adult needs to be present when children are on the playground and students should be encouraged to visit with one another inside the church building.
• If you are the last person to use a space, please ensure the doors are locked behind you.
• If you are visiting the church property during the week, even if it is to do exterior yard care, please check in with the church office.
• Please do not leave any valuables visible in your vehicles on Sunday mornings.
• If you see something, say something. Contact one of our pastors, the church office, or Security Team head Bobby Hosmer.
