- Incorporate more sources of fiber into your diet. Good foods with high fiber include; fruits (with the peel), vegetables, legumes, whole grain breads and cereals
Low Blood Pressure:

Summer of Love
While we know that many people living with
Parkinson's
are challenged with a "soft
voice"; it's also important for all of us to regularly have our hearing checked. And, from now until Labor Day, getting your hearing checked will also spread some love to the Parkinson Association.
Sound Relief Hearing Center is hosting their first annual Summer of Love event and is donating $25 for every completed new patient appointment. The Golden office has selected the Parkinson Association as their charity partner and they have a goal to raise $5,000 to benefit our programs and services.
Did you hear that?... schedule your visit today join them in spreading the love this summer!

Volunteers Needed for Regis Exercise Study
You are invited to join a research study in which you would
participate in an individualized exercise program for balance and
stepping specialized for people with Parkinson's disease.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether a home exercise program using
visual, auditory, proprioceptive and sensory information is more effective at
improving balance and/or gait when compared to the same exercises without that
information.
Another goal is to determine if long term improvements (3 month follow up) are
maintained from the balance and walking exercises.
You may be eligible to participate if you:
- Have been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease
- Are on medication, have been taking the same dose for a minimum of 3 weeks to ensure a stable baseline and continue on the same medication regimen throughout the study
- Are able to stand up from a chair & take 5 steps without assistance
- Are able to come to Regis for assessment testing (pre-assessment, 6 week assessment, 3 month follow-up)
- Are able to come for additional treatment sessions: 2 initial visits the first week with a physical therapist for demonstration and instruction in home exercises and 1x/week for 6 weeks for follow-up visits to progress exercises in the home program
- Perform 30-45 min of home exercises 5x/week
If you are interested in participating in this study or learning more about it, please
email or call Patricia Winkler at (
303) 809-5552.
