Below is information regarding upcoming Ellensburg Parks and Recreation Department programs and activities including Youth Center Summer Trips, youth sports camps, adult softball, the Youth Gladiator Dash, Friday Night movies and more.
Youth Center Summer Trips
The Stan Bassett Youth Center (SBYC) offers a wide variety of summer trips to area attractions for youth entering 3rd to 8th grade. Tip destinations include the Seattle Aquarium, beach days, Century Link Field tour, Mt. Rainier Day Hikes, Woodland Park Zoo day, and many more. Trips begin Tuesday June 14, 2016 and take place throughout the summer. Space is extremely limited, sign up early to secure a spot. Register Online
FREE All Schools BBQ & Games
FREE End of School year barbeque and field games with free hot dogs served to the first 400 youth. Activities will include field games and face painting. Date: Friday June 17th from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm Location: Memorial Park Sponsored by: Youth Services of Kittitas County, the Ellensburg Youth Center, and The Ellensburg Memorial Pool.
Skyhawks Sports Camps
City of Ellensburg Parks and Recreation Department is proud to present Skyhawks, Summer Sports Camps. Ten total camps will be held this summer including multi-sport camps, flag football, and soccer camps. Skyhawks camps will be held throughout the summer for three different age groups, youth 3 to 4; youth 4 to 7; and youth 6 to 12 years old.
Coed Adult Softball
The Ellensburg Parks and Recreation Department will be accepting team registrations for the City of Ellensburg Coed Slow Pitch Softball Leagues. Team registration for Coed Softball ends Friday July 15, 2016. Players who cannot locate a team can place their name on the “Player Interest List” which may be used to place players on existing teams and/or form additional teams.
Cardboard Regatta
- The Cardboard Boat Regatta pits homemade cardboard boats in a fun, family-friendly race. Boats can only be made of uncoated cardboard and duct tape. Boats may be painted with latex paint. Themes and costumes are encouraged!

FREE Friday Movies at City Hall
- Pack up the family and come on down to Ellensburg City Hall for a FREE Friday night flick! Remember to bring your lawn chair and some munchies for a night of outdoor fun! Movies begin at Dusk (9pm-ish).

Gladiator Dash
- Mud! Sweat! Cheers! Youth in kinder through 8th grade will take part in a dash that includes running, jumping, sliding, crawling, balancing, hopping, searching, combing, throwing, and the opportunity to get MUDDY!

FREE Summer Concerts in the Park
- The Ellensburg air comes alive when the FREE summer concerts start in August. Bing your lawn chair and a picnic dinner o enjoy the wonderful, local musical artists.

- August 11 – Ellensburg Big Band
- August 18 – TBA
- August 25 – Kastle Music Studios
- Time: 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
