Howelsen Hill Opening Day
Howelsen Hill Ski Area & Nordic Center will officially open for the season on Saturday, November 28. Please know that operations will look different this season, and we thank you in advance for keeping our community safe by following Howelsen Hill's health and safety protocols. Know what to expect on opening day by visiting the COVID page on our website and following our Facebook page for timely information and updates.
Ice Complex Closure Update
With the counties move to Safer at Home Level Orange last week, the Howelsen Ice Complex has temporarily closed. Staff is currently working to evaluate current ice complex programming, and working with the county to identify what activities can still take place under the current Level Orange dial framework. We appreciate everyone's patience while we work through logistics and hope to have additional updates soon.
Howelsen Hill Hut Rentals
Howelsen Hill is excited to offer a-frame hut rentals for guests this season. While we are still working to finish construction and set up our rental system online, we hope to have the huts available beginning later this month or early December. Each of the huts available for rent include heaters, lighting, picnic tables and benches. Each hut will be rented in accordance with all current health orders regarding capacities and group size.
Virtual Steamboat Turkey Trot
It is that time of year again to strut your stuff at the Steamboat Thanksgiving Turkey Trot! This year's race will be held virtually, giving participants the flexibility of racing whenever it's convenient. Once registered, participants will have until December 1 to complete a 5k. The race is a long standing local tradition and proceeds from the event benefit the Steamboat Springs Track and Field and Cross Country teams.
Big Snow Bash & Silent Auction
The Big Snow Bash, an annual fundraising event for Friends of the Yampa, has moved to a virtual format this season. Participants can register to watch live and pre-recorded musical performances and segments on conservation and the Yampa River. Also, don't forget to check out all of the amazing items available via the online silent auction. Proceeds from the event help support river conservation and education programs.
