DE ANZA NATURAL AT ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE

Proposed amendments to the Mission Bay Master Plan to set the stage for the “De Anza Natural” plan will be heard at the San Diego City Council’s Environment Committee on March 14, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. As Chair of the Environment Committee and guardian of existing uses in District 1, I will be looking for:

Preservation of existing community recreational uses
Low-cost camping
Expansion of wetlands
Improving water quality in De Anza Cove
Ensuring all future improvements are resilient and sustainable

These amendments are the first step in a multi-year process before shovels hit the ground or there are any changes to uses or regulations. Nevertheless, continue to raise your voice through public comment at the Environment Committee.

MISSION VALLEY RIVER PARK IS NOW OPEN

SDSU West continues to deliver on its promises. We cut the ribbon on the 34-acre SDSU Mission Valley River Park, featuring multi-use fields, playgrounds, hiking and bike loops, and more. I applaud the sustainable land and water management methods that honor the Kumeyaay connection and relationship with their environment and keep the river flowing in its natural state.
