Romans 6:4 says, “Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we should walk in newness of life.” Baptism is a public testimony of our faith and confidence in Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. It publicly aligns us with the character and mission of Christ, and places us into Christ’s body, the church, as a new citizen of His kingdom. Baptism provides the new believer with an opportunity to share both the picture and the impact of the gospel his or her life. I can’t wait to celebrate the commands of Christ this Sunday as we baptize believers in their public professions of faith in Jesus Christ.
On Wednesday, May 24, 2023, we will convene a special called business meeting for the purpose of hiring Clay Rainer as a Next Gen Summer Intern. The background, details, and deacon recommendation are provided in memo form at the book table in the Welcome Center. Please make sure you pick up your copy of the motion so that you can prayerfully consider the proposed recommendation. There will be a time for questions once the motion is presented but please feel free to call the church office any time prior to the meeting if you need clarification or wish to voice your concern or support.
Last week we looked at the first half of Mark 13 and talked about the last days. This week, we will look at the second half of Mark 13 and talk about the last of the last days. I hope we will be challenged by the commands of Jesus for His followers as we patiently anticipate His return. It is going to be a great day! I hope you will join us at 9:30 or 11:00am.
Please be sure to scroll down and check out the links to some of the events that are coming up on our calendar. Thank you for you faithfulness and your generosity to the work here at Parkview. We look forward to seeing you Sunday.
Sincerely,
Pastor Mike
