Credit Recovery

Students who have previously taken a course (for which CR is available) and scored a 60%-69% are eligible to recover credit through credit recovery.  Credit recovery courses are offered at a standard, college preparatory class level . Resource, team-taught, or honors level classes are not offered, but students who fail a resource, team-taught, or honors level course are eligible to take the standard CR course. Students who fail Accelerated Math or AP Courses are NOT eligible to recover credit through the Credit Recovery program.

Parkview uses Georgia Virtual School’s Credit Recovery program. It is not an instructor-led course; instead, the students self-pace through the online content modules. Most work for each course can be completed at home. The only requirement is that ALL post-tests must be taken under the supervision of the Credit Recovery personnel. The first attempt at a Credit Recovery course is FREE and a student has 6 months to complete the course. If the course is not completed in six months, students must pay a $25 re-enrollment fee and their course will start over from the beginning. Students are not able to start where they left-off when a course expires.

Please Note:  The NCAA does not recognize Credit Recovery courses for eligibility purposes.

To sign up for Credit Recovery, complete the registration sheet in the CR packet on the Curriculum Office page of the Parkview Website. Create an account through Georgia Virtual School ( www.gacreditrecovery.org ), if the student does not already have an account. Students may also pick up a Credit Recovery packet from Lab D-424 during their lunch. Students should return the CR registration sheet to Lab D-424 during lunch.

2019-20 Course Registration

Registration for the 2019-20 school year will be taking place for current 9 th , 10 th , and 11 th grade students January 25 th through February 8. The process will begin with student’s current core area teachers making course recommendations for course level.  Students will receive their registration sheet during 1 st period on Wednesday, February 6 th which will list the teacher recommended core courses. Students will then use the next three days to choose and register for their elective courses to complete their schedule with 12 total classes (6 each semester). The registration form will come home with students on Friday, February 8 th . At this time, students and parents will complete the form with signatures and return it to the student’s advisement teacher by Monday, February 11 th .

Students and parents are reminded to think carefully about courses and levels chosen as we build the master schedule based on what students indicate they want to take during the registration process. Students and parents should consider the following:

  • Teacher Recommendations – teachers are making their recommendations based on the student’s current performance and where they feel the student will be the most successful
  • Student Involvement – students and parents need to look at the big picture and consider all that the student is involved with to make sure to provide a balance for the student
  • No 2019-20 schedule adjustments will be granted after Friday, May 24, 2019.  Changes will NOT be made in the summer, in August, or during the 2019-20 school year for any reason. Changing your mind, determining the workload is too easy/difficult, or that a course may affect your GPA are NOT valid reasons for a change.  The only changes made after May 24th will be the result of course failures and/or due to credits earned over summer.
