PARKVIEW | CONNECTED

This Sunday is one of those Sundays where the church gets to do everything that God has commanded us to do as a church in our corporate gathering. We will join in prayer together to lift up the church planting efforts that are taking place in the impoverished areas of Scotland, particularly in Dundee and our partnership with Charleston Community Church. We will celebrate baptism and Lord’s Supper. We will lift our voices in praise to the One who is worthy of our praise, and we will study God’s Word together, trusting that it will continue its work in conforming us to the image of our Savior Jesus. It is going to be a great day. Don’t miss it!

Don’t forget to save the date! On Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 6:00pm, we will host a generosity dinner for our church family. We want to celebrate the vision and the generosity that has funded that vision over past 8-9 years. You will hear stories of how your generosity has impacted families in our church and community. We also will ask our church family to make a one-time gift beyond normal tithes, offerings, and building contributions so that we can reach our goal of being debt free by June 2024. I hope you will plan to attend.

This Sunday we will begin a four-week series called “Every Good Gift.” We will be highlighting the themes of generosity and gratitude, which seems always appropriate at this time of year. We will start the series by looking at biblical hospitality and why God has called us to a life that shares. I hope you will join us at 9:30 or 11:00.

Please be sure to scroll down and check out the links to some of the events that are coming up on our calendar. Thank you for your faithfulness and your generosity to the work here at Parkview. We look forward to seeing you Sunday.

Sincerely,

Pastor Mike

Generosity Dinner

On Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 6:00pm, we will host a Generosity Dinner for our church family. We invite you to come and hear the stories of lives that have been impacted through your generosity. We will celebrate all that God has done and continues to do through His church called Parkview.

We are providing a catered BBQ meal from Fifth Generation Farms. There is no cost for you to attend, but we will ask you to consider giving a one-time gift beyond your normal tithes, offerings, and building fund giving. Even if you aren’t in a position to do that now, please plan on joining us on November 16. Let’s “give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever” (Ps 106:1).

Fall Festival 2023

I’m always so encouraged by the willingness of our church family to love and serve our city. Our annual Fall Festival was Wednesday night, October 25, and about 600 people from our community joined us. More than 120 volunteers served that afternoon through set-up, cooking, serving, greeting, clean-up, and by decorating trunks and even more volunteers helped us leading up to the event by preparing desserts.

Registration is now open!

Each year, we have about 100 families from our community, many that do not have a church home, that join us for about seven weeks in January and February. We strive to be intentional about connecting with them and sharing the gospel with them at every opportunity. It takes coaches, assistant coaches, referees, greeters, and security to have a successful season. Sign up to serve using the tab below.

Book (re)Marks

In Redeeming Money, Paul David Tripp says, “Your use of money is an act of worship” (page 128). We’re commanded to pay a tithe from our income; we also have to supply our needs in life. But our true hearts are revealed in how we spend our disposable income. So how much should we give to help other people, and how much should we spend on ourselves?

The TROD framework will help us balance our offerings and personal spending in a biblical way.
