A quick thought from 39,000 feet up
The pesukim say
13They worked the Israelites ruthlessly s them with forced labor.
יג וַיַּעֲבִדוּ מִצְרַיִם אֶת-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, בְּפָרֶךְ.
Chazal inform us that the word בְּפָרֶךְ is to be understood as two words, “peh-rach”- namely, a soft mouth or soft words.
Chazal explain that first the Egypt told the Jews, “Come on down and do some building. Don’t worry, you’ll be handsomely paid for your work.
The Jews came but, they were tricked.
The work was there to do, however, there was no payment at the end of the day.
If a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
