Dear Friend and Fellow Member of the Diocese of Massachusetts, 

Greetings from the members of the Healthy Congregations Task Force! In response to a resolution passed by the 238^th Diocesan Convention in November 2023, a group of lay people and clergy have come together to ask what healthy congregations look like and how we can work to support them. We are beginning our work by looking at how we are living into our mission and vision as a diocesan community. Where do we shine and where can we, in collective ministry, find new ways to lift each other up?

We have developed two initial approaches to this work. First, over the next few weeks, we will collect measurable data through Holy Cow Consulting’s “Landscape Assessment.” This will give us insight into the current health of our diocese, identify things that need immediate attention, and capture feedback about where people would like to put energy and resources in the future.

Secondly, over the first half of next year, you will be invited to connect with us at one of a series of gatherings and/or individually in one-on-one meetings to discuss your hopes for our future and your experiences in the congregations of our dioceses. 

We are inviting all people in our diocese to participate in this process– lay folks and clergy alike. In both approaches, confidentiality and safety will be central. 

As Bishop-elect Julia Whitworth noted, “I am delighted to support the work of the Healthy Congregations Task Force, already underway as I am arriving in the diocese. What a wonderful way to begin a season of self-study, discernment, and visioning for us all. I do hope you will participate and encourage others to do the same.”

¡Saludos de los miembros del Grupo de Trabajo de Congregaciones Saludables! En respuesta a una resolución aprobada por la 238ª Convención Diocesana en noviembre de 2023, un grupo de laicos y clérigos se ha reunido para preguntarse cómo son las congregaciones saludables y cómo podemos trabajar para apoyarlas.
