Participate in ground-breaking study to "increase the peace"
Serve yourself while serving others -- it's a win/win!

If you have a New Year's resolution to meditate more or bring more relaxation and less stress into your life...here is your chance!

Sign up now to have creatively different, 15-minute meditations led by some of the best teachers in the Albany, NY area emailed to you each day.

What is this about?

While increasing your own personal peace, you will also be participating in a study being conducted in the City of Albany to have meditators focus on increasing the peace for the month of January. Researchers will be correlating data going five years back with the new data to determine whether a focused, collective intention of peace aimed at the city can impact positively on the behavior of others and lower aggravated assaults in Albany.

What you need to know to participate

1) It's free.

2) You can participate from anywhere in the world.

3) It takes 15 minutes a day.

4) It lasts from January 1-31.

5) No meditation experience is necessary.

6) You will need Internet access.

7) You can join any time during January.

You will receive an email each day with a link to a guided meditation that will be streamed over the Internet. The short meditations will teach you how to shift your nervous system into states of greater well-being and relaxation as you focus your thoughts on peace for yourself and Albany.

I am delighted to be one of the meditation leaders on two of the days and I invite you to join me in this free program.

Prior research shows that peaceful intentions for self and others has positive effects that include lowering blood pressure and pain, and enhancing optimism and relationships. University at Albany Professor, Dr. John Foldy, will be analyzing crime data to determine if there is a corresponding reduction of assaults.

Research also suggests that when more people are involved, there are corresponding more robust positive effects, so it is important for as many people as possible to participate.

The project is being led by Dr. Foldy and Bethany Gonyea, a biofeedback specialist and founder of a local spiritual living center. Visit AlbanyPeaceProject.com to register and learn more. After you register, you will receive a free "powering up" meditation kit.
