Dear Robyn,
With over 300 families currently on the waiting list to access family shelter, please join us in weighing in with the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC or HLC) on their new Emergency Assistance (EA) family shelter emergency regulations and EA waiting list and prioritization procedures. EOHLC has enforced a cap of approximately 7,500 families in EA since November 10th, the first day a waiting list was instituted. Since then, hundreds of children and families have been approved for shelter but not immediately placed in EA, overflow, or safety net shelters. EOHLC also is looking at setting a time limit on how long families can participate in the EA program, which would be extremely destabilizing for families who have not yet secured long-term housing.
The Coalition partnered with Greater Boston Legal Services and Massachusetts Law Reform Institute to draft public comments on the emergency regulations and guidance. While the comments officially were due to EOHLC on Friday, we invite you to participate in our organizational sign-on letters by completing this short form. We will be sharing the updated list of endorsing organizations with EOHLC, the Legislature, the media, and community organizations.
Please keep reading below for more details on the sign-on letters, as well as information about our ongoing Everyone Needs ID campaign to ease access to standard Mass IDs for youth and adults experiencing homelessness and a link to register for our upcoming Legislative Action Day, which will take place on Thursday, March 7th at the State House.

Thank you for your collaboration!
