Greetings!

As we celebrate the halfway point of summer cohorts at Holden Village, we are grateful for all the discovery, learning, and joy happening in this valley.

Looking ahead, Villagers will celebrate "Christmas in July" with games and hilarity. Talented musicians will collaborate for "Copperstock," an outdoor musical talent show on the Village Green. Amazing faculty will offer music and teach classes on faithful responses to the most salient issues of our time.

The second week of August, the Village will welcome a longstanding Holden tradition, "Abriendo Caminos," which means "Opening Pathways" in Spanish. During this week of bilingual and Spanish programming and a celebration of Latine culture, Villagers will enjoy nature hikes, art projects, the Copa Holden soccer tournament, bilingual worship, making tamales and other traditional foods, a talent show, fiesta, and more. We have a robust lineup of programs and retreats in September and October - register to join us!

The calling to Eden was not lost in a mythical paradise long ago; it’s an invitation that is always calling to us, calling us now to participate in the wildness of creation with our Maker, who lives and longs for us.

Faithfully,
Stacy Kitahata, Mark Bach, and Kathie Bach

Most Urgently Needed Positions
MEDIC

Are you looking for an incredible opportunity to provide medical care in a wilderness setting? Come to Holden Village to practice medicine in one of the most remote communities in the lower 48 states!

STAFFING LEAD

Holden operates through the support of nearly a thousand volunteers and employees each year.

As Staffing Lead, you connect people with roles that best suit their gifts, administer benefits, and play a critical role in ensuring that the Village is sufficiently staffed. Your Gifts in Action
Arts & Music Fund - New Instruments
Thanks to the generous support of our community, the Village is alive with the sound of music!

Funds raised from a past Jubilee Auction allowed us to purchase new instruments, replace audio cords and cables, and invest in cases to protect and maintain our new instruments so the music lasts as long as possible.

  • 2 ukuleles
  • 2 fiberglass shekeres
  • 1 set of bongos
  • Cymbals with stands
  • 2 guitars named Simon (after Paul Simon) and Wilson (after Nancy Wilson of Heart)
Arts & Music Fund - New Kiln
Your support of the Arts & Music Fund in a past Jubilee Auction allowed Holden to order the bricks and supplies needed to rebuild and repair the kilns.

The Holden Village Pottery Studio offers people of all ages and experience levels the opportunity to practice the joy of the creative process. Thanks for supporting the arts!
Access Fund
Registration fees, in addition to travel to Holden's remote location that often requires multiple days and modes of transportation, can add up to an insurmountable sum for many. Thanks to your support of the Access Fund in the past two Jubilee Auctions, you have made possible efforts such as:
  • Free and reduced-price visits
  • Assistance to help cover travel costs for new volunteers/staff
  • Funding to help attract and make it possible for a more diverse faculty to participate
Hymnals Fund
Your support of the Hymnals Fund from a past Jubilee Auction allowed Holden Village to purchase 325 All Creation Sings Hymnals.

Thanks for helping the Village provide worship resources that are expansive, inclusive, innovative, and justice-centered!
