This special partner communication is dedicated to providing information regarding the fluid situation surrounding the coronavirus and its impact on Sonoma County's tourism and hospitality industries.
December 3, 2020
Dear Hospitality Industry Partners,

Governor Newsom announced today a three-week Regional Stay-At-Home order for regions where ICU capacity falls below 15%. The state of California has been divided into 5 regions, with Sonoma County part of the Bay Area Region. Our region is expected to fall below the 15% ICU capacity in mid to late December.

To be clear, none of the five regions currently meet the threshold for the new rules.

When a region does eventually fall below the 15% ICU capacity, it will be placed into the Stay-At-Home order for 3 weeks.

Sectors that will be temporarily closed when a region is placed into the Stay-At-Home order include:

  • Bars
  • Wineries
  • Personal Services
  • Hair Salons/Barbershops

Sectors that will remain open when a region is placed into the Stay-At-Home order include:

  • Schools (that have received a waiver)
  • Critical infrastructure
  • Retail (20% capacity to reduce exposure)
  • Restaurants (for takeout and delivery only)

You can monitor Sonoma County’s ICU availability on the County Hospital Capacity Dashboard here. But please note the dashboard tracks just Sonoma County and not the entire Bay Area region.

Sonoma County Tourism will keep you posted with additional information as it becomes available.
