One of the most important tools in any doctor's tool kit is the ability to perform blood tests on their patients. Lab tests can detect unseen problems, or indicate if a course of treatment is working.
At CrossOver we have a small lab space in each clinic. Here we can perform standard tests like hemoglobin, blood sugar, and a1C (a common test for patients with diabetes). In order to perform more advanced labs ourselves, we would need a much larger and more expensive facility.
Luckily, three of our generous partners,
Bon Secours, HCA, and Labcorp,
perform all of these tests at no cost to CrossOver, or our patients.
After a volunteer nurse draws a vial of blood, a courier from one of our partners picks up the samples and takes them to the partner's lab. Once the tests are performed, the results are sent electronically to CrossOver, directly into the patient's chart. The lab results also show up as an alert in our electronic health records system, allowing CrossOver doctors and nurses to read the results right away, and plan the next step of treatment.
This integration is a major improvement over the old system of faxes and paper charts, and it saves both time and money. Most importantly, it ensures that our patients receive accurate and timely care.
Bon Secours, HCA, and Labcorp
for all you do to keep our patients healthy!
