Collaborating to Support Caregivers in Thunder Bay
The Thunder Bay-based Caregivers Support Committee (CSC) has, for many years, existed to improve inter-agency cooperation and communication while making caregiver-related issues more widely known. More than 20 organizations from the health, social, and community services sectors that support caregivers in Thunder Bay are members of the committee. Through its monthly meetings, CSC helps establish strategic priorities and activities in response to new demands, stresses, and system changes while creating space for members to exchange information, trends, upcoming events, and develop meaningful community partnerships.
The Caregiver Support Committee has launched several programs to assist caregivers in Thunder Bay since it was founded. They have published ads in the local newspaper, The Chronicle Journal, promoting caregiver awareness and appreciation. They have also offered an educational series on services available to caregivers in Thunder Bay and organized local events to honor and celebrate caregivers. Additionally, CSC facilitates interorganizational partnerships, which have proven beneficial to its members and caregivers in Thunder Bay. Members are better able to assist patients and caregivers in navigating the health, community, and social services sectors because of these ties and linkages.
To contact the Caregivers Support Committee Thunder Bay, phone 1-833-416-2273 and ask to be referred to the committee.
