The Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce Education Committee partnered with the members of the Chamber to collect school supplies for Cherokee County Title 1 Schools. School representatives specified which items were needed most for their students to efficiently meet their needs. The supply drive, known as "School Supply Express", is purposefully held in the fall to replenish supplies used in the first half of the school year. Donations were delivered to schools this week and will be distributed to students when they return to school in January.

Woodstock High School &
The UPS Store - Towne Lake
Woodstock HS Principal Mark Smith had this to say about Robert Mitchell, owner of the UPS Store in Woodstock. “He supports the needs of Woodstock High School in many ways. He provides printing services to recognize both students and teachers for various recognitions while supporting the seniors through the printing of yard signs. He worked especially hard last year to help us recognize our custodial support staff members with a permanent sign of appreciation for their hard work in maintaining WHS. Mr. Mitchell continuously seeks out ways to support our teachers, staff, administration and students. He is always asking how he can better support all stakeholders."

ACE Academy &
Northside Hospital Cherokee
"Northside Hospital Cherokee has shown tremendous generosity by way of its annual partnership donations to ACE Academy. Their dedication to serving the needs of our school community is truly exemplary. Northside grants have been instrumental in not only obtaining, but updating, life-saving automated external defibrillators for our front office and gymnasium; obtaining walkie talkies for improved schoolwide communication; and purchasing essential clinic supplies so that we may continue to serve our students and staff. Northside's support of the primary and preventive health of our school ultimately benefits the greater community. These efforts have enabled ACE to continue to support the health, wellness and safety of our students, staff and families." - ACE Academy Principal Richard Landolt

CHILDREN'S HEALTHCARE OF ATLANTA SPONSORS INAUGURAL CHEROKEE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT
NURSE OF THE YEAR AWARD
|
|
Cherokee County School District Superintendent Dr. Brian Hightower, far right, and School Board Chair Kyla Cromer presented the inaugural School Nurse of the Year award to Oak Grove Elementary School STEAM Academy Nurse Nadia Jones.
...
"Last school year was truly the 'Year of the School Nurse,' and it's such an honor to recognize Nadia for being the best of the best school nurses," Hightower said of the importance of the award. "Every day, our school nurses give outstanding care to students and staff. From dispensing medication to bandaging cuts and from tending to medically fragile children to providing parents with healthcare guidance, they dedicate themselves to providing professional healthcare services. We can't thank them enough for all that they do."
...
Janet Read Welch, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta community development officer, spoke at the event, where she treated all of Cherokee County's school nurses to Chick-fil-A breakfast and presented them with T-shirts. Children's Healthcare also will sponsor a professional development speaker at another event for school nurses as part of the new partnership agreement with the district.

Pictured: Kathy Winiarczyk of Credit Union of Georgia personally visits honored members of the month Monica Correll, Sonja Ryberg, and Carmen Rodriguez, respectively
|
|
Credit Union of Georgia has been a premier partner with Woodstock HS this year. They sponsor the Teacher and Staff member of the month where each month a teacher and a staff member are recognized for their exceptional commitment to WHS. Specifically each is nominated based on a Word of the Week. Each word is positive and is tied to the school’s character education program. Just as the teachers demonstrate excellent character and commitment to the school, Credit Union of Georgia has demonstrated that same level of commitment and character as exemplified by Kathy Winiarczyk who personally visits the school and meets with each staff member and teacher to share with them how much Credit Union of Georgia appreciates their efforts for the school and the community. This personal touch means the world to the WHS team and helps the community feel more connected, which is especially vital at this time. Credit Union of Georgia exemplifies that dedication and great character just like the teachers and staff they honor each month. WHS is proud to have them as a Partner in Education. Thank you, Credit Union of Georgia!
