31 Coach Mentors led these summertime return efforts, and they didn't disappoint, like Yasmin pictured here during camp! | “I was able to gain so much valuable experience. I got to communicate with a lot of people. I learned how to write, create google forms, newsletters, and promotional videos. My favorite part was getting to be an aspiring coach. As one of the older girls, it was an honor to help the younger hires become better coaches and assist them in learning the proper way to speak to and instruct out the younger kids. I look forward to using the skills I learned to better myself in the future & those around me.”-Yasmin

Beyond Volley is now a recognized
USA Volleyball Club!
|
Did you know that 91% of current collegiate volleyball athletes play club sports?
Those numbers are staggering and also motivated our decision to invest in a partnership with the U.S. Youth Volleyball.
| |
This relationship ensures that Beyond Volley is recognized as a club, resulting in expanded opportunities for Lawrence youth and teens to get every chance to develop their skills, especially through travel tournament participation so their skills can be advanced and seen.
This step also strengthens our focus on kids, ages 4-12, benefiting from quality, fun, and accessible camps, clinics, and in-city leagues. It expands our sports pipelines, making sure Lawrence youth get the same chance as suburb kids to play, compete, and get exposure to college coaches and showcases that they might not otherwise get. They deserve it, and we look forward to doing everything we can to expand travel tournament experiences and showcase their talents and passion for sports! Other USA Volleyball Club Benefits:
- All coaches must be SafeSport certified;
- Free IMPACT training for all coaches;
- Opportunity to play in all USA Volleyball-sanctioned competitions and events

What is Director of Volleyball Development, Leti Valdez, most excited about?
|
Leti has spent the last two weeks ensuring Beyond Volley met all USA Volleyball's club requirements, including hours of training and Safe Sport certs. Now she's even more excited about expanding our impact through our first-ever club program and registering those teams in local and regional tournaments. Just as important to Leti are Beyond's off-the-court priorities that will provide young people with mental and physical health benefits through BeyondFit & Balanced and Academic Overtime this winter! These focuses are in addition to daily in-school and after-school programs she's expanding! There's no slowing down, Leti!

We’re honored to be one of 42 organizations from 23 states receiving a 2021 Sports 4 Life grant from the Women's Sports Foundation and espnW to increase the participation and retention of girls of color in youth sports programs. We agree with Deborah Antoine, WSF's CEO that “all girls–regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, ability, zip code or family income–deserve equal access to the lifelong, transformative benefit of sports!” See the official press release! Specifically, this grant will connect more Lawrence girls to positive SBYD experiences and female mentorship, like "Beyond Fit & Balanced!"
