August 31st is International Overdose Awareness Day

This is the world’s annual campaign to end overdoses, remember without stigma those who have died, and acknowledge the grief of the family and friends left behind. See information about a remembrance event below.
What is an Overdose?
An overdose means having more of a drug (or combination of drugs) than your body can cope with. All drugs can cause an overdose, including prescription medication prescribed by a doctor. It is important to: take the right medication, at the right time, for the right reason in the right amount! If you suspect someone has overdosed, call 911! Administering Naloxone (Narcan) is a way to help someone who may have overdosed after taking opioids. If you are interested in free training to administer Naloxone click here.
August Family Meals are about Medicines & Opioids

With World Overdose Awareness Day at the end of August, our family conversation cards encourage the discussion about medicines in the home and how to ensure they are stored safely and not misused. Conversation cards are in both English and Spanish. Participants can win ShopRite gift cards just by completing a survey! Contact Wendy to learn more about the conversation cards for the family meals project.
