Care Day at Zaban Paradies Center
On August 16, Brightwater Homes volunteered with HomeAid Atlanta at a Care Day at Zaban Paradies Center. Work included demo of old kitchen cabinets, painting, new cabinet installation, and more. Atlantis Granite and Marble donated a new kitchen countertop and installation to finish off the work at ZPC, which provides housing and programs for couples experiencing homelessness (learn more below). This was HomeAid’s tenth Care Day of 2022.
Who HomeAid Helps: Zaban Paradies Center

For 36 years, Zaban Paradies Center has been changing the lives of couples experiencing homelessness and instability. Beginning in 2021, they broadened their scope of services to include couples' dependent children. Watch this brief video to learn more about the transformative work happening at ZPC.
HomeAid & KSU Partner for Affordable Housing
This fall, Kennesaw State University students will help determine next steps for a new project in partnership with HomeAid Atlanta at North Georgia Angel House (NGAH).

HomeAid Atlanta brought together NGAH and KSU to create a Special Projects Class for Construction Management students led by Assistant Professor Dr. Lantz Holtzhower (pictured here with HomeAid Atlanta Executive Director Mandy Crater). This class will give students real world experience on a complicated project involving multiple municipalities, complicated water supplies and topography, zoning changes, and unique design challenges. Ultimately, the students will present ideas for a new housing development for NGAH, which will provide low income housing opportunities to young women and young mothers and their children experiencing homelessness.

This unique class will not only help move this project forward, but will teach the budding young construction students about ways they can help build a future without homelessness!
Under Construction
Final details are in progress at Gateway Domestic Violence Center. We're working on adding 55 beds at this Hall County facility that provides housing, crisis intervention, comprehensive support services, and more for victims of domestic violence. The project is led by CBI General Contractors.

Last week, our friends at Construction Resources checked some final items off of the to-do list, including shelving installation (left). GE Appliances, a national partner of HomeAid, provided a deep discount on appliances. The new facility is on track to open soon, so that Gateway can provide even more safety, shelter, and support for those impacted by domestic violence.

Through ongoing collaboration with builders, HomeAid continues to build a future without homelessness.
HomeAid Happenings
CareKits Delivery at Another Chance of Atlanta
On July 29, our friends from Stacey's Place helped deliver 500 HomeAid CareKits to Another Chance of Atlanta.

Two organizations collaborated with HomeAid to produce these 500 CareKits to help care for our metro Atlanta neighbors in need. In late spring, Rockhaven Homes employees collected feminine hygiene products and other supplies to fill CareKits. In addition to these donations, generous Rockhaven employees raised over $1,100 to purchase additional CareKits items!

Throughout July, volunteers from Stacey's Place, Inc. packed 500 CareKits using supplies from Rockhaven Homes’ donation drives. Stacey's Place serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.

Thank you to Rockhaven Homes and Stacey's Place for caring for people experiencing homelessness in metro Atlanta!

Donor Spotlight: Construction Resources
For over 50 years, Construction Resources and their family of businesses has been the leading design authority for home remodeling and building projects. HomeAid Atlanta has relied on Construction Resources throughout our 20+ years of working to end homelessness in metro Atlanta. Because of their steadfast support for our projects and Care Days through donations of countertops, mirrors, and much more, Construction Resources was named HomeAid Atlanta Trade Partner of the Year in 2009 and again in 2012 (top left).

Most recently, Construction Resources supported our kitchen renovation at Gilgal, Inc. (top right) and our transformation of a metal storage facility into five apartments for girls aging out of the foster care system at North Georgia Angel House (bottom left), both in late 2021. We are grateful to be working with Construction Resources again on our current projects (see 'Under Construction,' above).

Thank you to Construction Resources for your longtime support for HomeAid’s work to build a future without homelessness!
