Everything is beautiful all the time

The Anticipation Builds

There's a buzz in the air. The energy is palpable. Sprouts emerge from the fertile earth after laying low for the winter. And WOMR has its birthday party.

This one's going to be special. We need to build a new studio, and you can help. The community has come together to donate an unbelievable collection of art and other gifts for you to bid on in a live and silent auction. All of the proceeds go to support our Broadcast Equipment Capital Campaign. We're more than half way to our goal, and your participation in our party will bring our new studio that much closer to reality. We can almost taste the intoxicating fumes of new electronics already.

Here are some of the important details you need to know:

Folks are invited to arrive at the party at 2. We're asking for a $15 donation at the door. We'll give you a food ticket and a drink ticket ($10 value) in return. Kim Moberg will open the show, followed by Zoƫ Lewis and the Souvenirs. There will be Cape Cod Beer for sale as well as wine and soft drinks. Joey Rugo is running a taco bar and there will be oysters and littlenecks at a raw bar. There will be face painting and other surprises for the kids. The silent auction closes at 4pm with the live auction to follow at 4:30. Our back lot will be filled with a tent with concessions and all entry will be through the front of the building.

You can bid on items in advance at our auction website. There are three main categories of items defined by the way the bidding works. The first category is newly commissioned works in the theme of "Album Covers." These have lot numbers in the 100's, and will remain live on the website until the auction closes at 4pm on Sunday April 14. People who can't make it to the party will be able to see the highest current bid on these items at all times. The second category of items will be sold in a live auction to take place at the party starting at 4:30. This auction will be run by Jim Bakker and there will be no advance or absentee bidding on these items. The third group of items will be sold in a silent auction to close at 4pm on Sunday April 14. These items have lot numbers in the 300's and 400's. These items are available for advance bidding through the website, but online bidding on these items will close at 5pm on Saturday April 13. The high bids at that time will be carried over to the silent auction at the party on Sunday April 14. If no further bids are placed on Sunday, the item will be awarded to the highest bid placed by the close of bidding on Saturday. There may be some additional items offered at the party that don't appear on the website. There are well over 125 lots for sale, so there should be something for everyone.

Parking will be a challenge. The East End of Provincetown is having work done, so there's no on-street parking east of the Schoolhouse. You may be able to find a spot on Commercial Street west of the Schoolhouse. Spaces will be available in the lot behind the Provincetown Theater around the corner at 238 Bradford Street. Parking in all town lots will be free. The Funk Bus will be running a loop to and from the lot at Macmillan Pier. You can flag down the Funk Bus anywhere between the Schoolhouse and Macmillan Pier on Commercial Street. We recommend leaving plenty of time to get to the party. It's about a 20 minute walk from Macmillan to the Schoolhouse at 494 Commercial Street. In general, we're expecting LOTS of people, so please be patient and kind and everything will go spectacularly.

Here's just a few of the items in the auction. You can view them all at the auction website.
