From Our Pastor,

This Sunday is our All-Church Conference at 12:30 pm after worship. Everyone is welcome to attend. Only members have voice and vote in this formal meeting. Our District Superintendent, Rev. Emily Hotho, will be leading the meeting. We will vote on leadership, pastor’s compensation, the vision statement, a motion to begin civil engineering on the property for future building, and a motion to issue Requests for Proposals to find a team to begin drawing a new worship space.

During worship I will preach (presuming my voice does not betray me again!) on Stewardship, using the draft Vision language we are working with, Faith: Transforming Me; Faith: Transforming Community; Faith: Transforming the World. We will be asking everyone over the next several weeks to make a financial pledge to the church and a pledge towards transformation.

I am preaching from Micah 6:6-8. This is the familiar scripture of what the Lord requires, “to do justice, love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.” The Gospel lesson for the day is from the Gospel of John 3:1-8 where Jesus reminds us of the need to be born again. God invites us on a journey of personal transformation.

See you Sunday!

Pastor Mark

Master Plan Recommendation

Pasadena Vision Statement

Faith: Transforming Me, Transforming Community, Transforming the World

Faith: This is where our Christian beliefs are rooted; it is how we live, make decisions, and treat other people.

Transform: We want a significant (even audacious) action word that speaks to our expectations for ourselves, our community, and our world. We want to be innovative in our transformation!

Transforming Me: Transformation begins with my own faith journey of allowing God to transform me through Jesus Christ. We focus on our faith walk so that we can help transform the community and the world. It is a reminder that we are in a lifelong journey of transformation.

Transforming Community: This is literally Pasadena’s middle name. It is central to who we are. Community means both transforming our relationships with one another inside the church AND transforming the church’s relationship to the broader community of St. Petersburg and Florida Methodists. We recognize that the community transforms us and we help transform the community.

  • Welcoming everyone, multicultural, multi-generational
  • Caring for our members and neighbors
  • Sharing worship and meals
  • Programs for sports, wellness, study, interest groups
  • Letting everyone know they have a “home"

Transforming the World: This seems like the audacious part. Yet, we believe that by working on the transformation of ourselves and our church community, we really can change the world.

  • Educating Children
  • Direct Service, food pantry, street eats, pack-a-snack, etc.
  • Supporting the Florida Conference initiatives
  • Supporting our church in Cuba
  • Constantly learning and caring about the world around us

Faith: Transforming Me, Transforming Community, Transforming the World

This Sunday, 11/8, Rev. Dr. Mark Holland will be preaching his Stewardship Series with a sermon called "Faith: Transforming Me" from Micah 6:6-8. Stewardship this year will use our temporary logo, “Building Pasadena.” We will focus on the three parts of the new vision statement, beginning with “Transforming Me.” Part of our faith is always being open to on-going transformation. Once we stop growing, our spirits begin to die. How do we keep going deeper?

Pumpkin Patch - Thank You!

Thank you so much for supporting the Pasadena Pumpkin Patch this past month! We sold over 1,800 pumpkins! We raised over $5,000! Most importantly, we had over 1,000 people on campus who do not attend on a regular basis! They were able to connect with our church, our ministries and hopefully we will see some new faces in the holiday season! We look forward to next year's pumpkin patch! Click here for a fun video shared at church on Nov 1!

Please come pick up some pumpkins! We are cleaning up the patch this Sunday (11/8) after the 9am service, please come out and join us before or after church! We hate to throw away all the great left-over pumpkins!

Blessings,

Pumpkin Patch Committee

Final services in Goodwin Chapel and the Hamilton Building

This Wednesday, we gathered to say our final goodbyes to the Hamilton Building and Goodwin Chapel.

We were blessed to share two meaningful worship services in this special space. Our final Chapel Service led by Rev. Lynn Dyke and our Wednesday Night Live service led by Rev. Dr. Mark Holland.

While we close the doors on this chapter of Pasadena's history, we carry with us the countless memories, prayers, and moments of faith shared within these walls. The building may be saying goodbye, but the ministry, love, and legacy that filled it will continue to live on.

These buildings are now closed. To learn more about the history of these buildings, click here.

What’s Happening at PCC

This past Sunday, we remembered our brothers and sisters who we have lost. We honored those who we lost at Pasadena. Thank you for joining us.

Food Pantry Donations

The food pantry provided 154 bags of emergency/supplemental food serving 378 household members during our two distributions in October.

All food donations are still greatly appreciated. Canned fruit are a priority this month. Even a few items can add up allowing us to include more in each bag we distribute.
