PASADENA'S WATER MEETS ALL STATE AND FEDERAL QUALITY STANDARDS
Pasadena's water supply has once again met all drinking water quality standards set by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency and the State Water Resources Control Board. The 2021 Consumer Confidence Report on Water Quality (CCR) is now available online for customers to read.

The Pasadena community uses approximately 26 million gallons of water each day, and PWP is proud to have the responsibility to provide Pasadena with a sufficient, safe and high quality water supply.

Printed copies of the CCR are available at City Hall, Pasadena libraries and at 150 S. Los Robles, Suite 200. For questions regarding the CCR, or to request that a hard copy of the report be mailed to you, call 626.744.7954.
APPLY NOW FOR THE LOW-INCOME
HOUSEHOLD WATER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
PWP low-income customers can now apply to receive financial assistance for delinquent residential water bills. The Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) is a federally funded program that offers low-income households a one-time payment to help pay outstanding bills for residential water or wastewater costs. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the federal government allocated funding to California to help households struggling to afford the costs of water. To participate, PWP customers must apply directly to the Maravilla Foundation, the local service provider selected by the state to help the City of Pasadena implement the program.

The amount of assistance that customers may receive will depend on the balance of the household’s water bills. Households whose utility payments are included in their rent may also be eligible for LIHWAP.

LIHWAP offers a one-time payment of up to $2,000 to help:
  • Pay residential water or wastewater utility bills; and
  • Prevent other adverse effects such as debt collection or placement of liens.

LIHWAP is a one-time program that is available for approximately one-year and will permanently close in August 2023. Funding for eligible residents is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
NOW'S THE TIME TO REPLACE YOUR WATER THIRSTY TURF WITH DROUGHT-TOLERANT LANDSCAPING
California is experiencing severe drought conditions and hotter summer temperatures, both of which impact landscapes. Now is the time to make long term water efficient changes to help build drought resilience. PWP encourages customer to replace water thirsty turf with drought-tolerant plants and trees. There are a variety of plants and trees which are able to thrive with less water and are drought resilient. Customers can receive $2 per square foot removed and residential customers can receive up to $10,000.

The Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) estimates that residents utilize anywhere between 35,000 – 75,000 gallons of water each year on just a 1,000 sq.ft parcel of grass. Choosing to replace water-guzzling turf with California native, drought-tolerant plants can reduce your water use by a significant amount, and save you money too! Not sure where to start? Check out PWP’s Save Water webpage to get information about the turf replacement rebate, view the Landscaping Guide, and find inspiration from local drought-tolerant gardens.
MORE PUBLIC EV CHARGERS
COMING TO A NEIGHBORHOOD NEAR YOU
PWP is working hard to expand public access to electric vehicle (EV) charging throughout the city. In addition to the fully-functional Arroyo Charging Depot and Marengo Charging Plaza, brand new EV chargers are being installed at other locations around Pasadena.

  • Playhouse Park – Open Soon! This location already has four chargers installed, and once the park opens to the public it will be a great location for charging up; plus, future charger installs are already planned.
  • Robinson Park – 25 EV chargers now under construction.
  • Victory Park – Construction will be starting soon on 25 EV chargers.
  • Del Mar Garage – Upgrading to a total of 40 EV chargers, including replacing outdated infrastructure.

Haven’t made the switch to electric yet? PWP offers up to $1,500 in rebates for the purchase or lease of new/used EV. Plus, there are more great incentives from local, state and federal agencies!
