Jay Dixon served on the NWRA Board of Trustees from 2008 to 2016. During his tenure on the Board, Jay worked to increase participation from rural Nevada, particularly in the agriculture and mining industries. He also invested a lot of effort into expanding interest from Nevada legislative and judicial branches, as their involvement in NWRA has become increasingly important.
When asked about his favorite NWRA memory, Jay said, “In 2012, Darrell Twiedt and I (on behalf of NWRA) put on a Domestic Well Owners educational workshop in Pahrump. We were armed with a generous assortment of refreshments provided by Nye County's largest tax payer, Round Mountain Gold, and chrome-plated well screen samples from Roscoe Moss. Apparently somebody started a rumor that the State Engineer's Office was coming down to install meters on their domestic wells because the entire back wall at Bob Ruud Community Center was lined with people packing side arms and video cameras. On that day I got a whole new appreciation for the passion for domestic wells that exists in Pahrump, Nevada!”
Jay also brings a fun-loving energy to NWRA events. During the 2014 NWRA conference, Jay dressed up like former (legendary) Nye County Commissioner Dick Carver and gave a presentation about the history of Big Smoky Valley and talked about the mini-sagebrush rebellion that occurred there in the early 1990s (Battle for Jefferson Canyon). Thank you, Jay, for your continued support of NWRA!
All of us at Nevada Water Resources Association thank you for your time, support & commitment to the organization!
