Last weekend was the calm after the storm. It was great to see all the families take advantage of the entire week after the fourth. The weather was perfect, and I even got to get out on the lake for the second time this year.

As you can see in the boat sales section, it is party time! Between lunches, dinners, and raftouts, we should be able to keep you busy in the upcoming weeks. Tritoons are still the hot ticket right now. If you don't know why stop by and take one out for a spin. They are nothing like they used to be. Some even ride better than comparable same-sized v-hull's, and they're much quieter. Test drives don't cost you anything, we buy the gas.

We are working on new menu and drink items for both clubs. So be on the lookout for menu changes and new dishes!

Speaking of Clubs, I couldn’t be more excited to announce that we have promoted Leta Reed as the new Club Manager at CYC. Her presence made a huge difference in the club this past holiday week/weekend, which made this decision an obvious one for Joe and I. Leta has been with us for 6 1/2 years, and we look forward to her demonstrating her great leadership skills in this new role. For reservations, parties, and general club needs, please give her a call!

Hope to see you soon,
Tom

Sunburn

Sunburn refers to flushed, damaged skin caused by overexposure to UV rays from the sun. Sunburn varies from mild to severe. Sunburn is usually a first degree or second, depending on the depth and size of the affected area of skin.

First-degree sunburn

A person with first-degree sunburn may notice the following skin symptoms, usually about 4 hours after exposure to sunlight:

a.     Redness, which is more apparent on light skin

b.     A warm tight feeling

c.      Swelling or blistering

d.     Soreness

People may also experience peeling skin around 3-8 days after exposure. Other symptoms may also accompany first-degree sunburn. These include headaches, raised temperature, fatigue, and nausea.

Second-degree burn

Second-degree sunburn may penetrate the skin’s outer layer and damage the layer beneath, which is called the dermis. It may take weeks to heal and may need special treatment. A person with a second-degree sunburn may notice the following symptoms:

1.     Skin that is deep red, especially on light skin.

2.     Swelling and blistering over a large area.

3.     Wet-looking, shiny skin.

4.     Pain

5.     White discoloration within the burned area of skin.

People with a second-degree sunburn should contact a doctor if they have skin that is badly blistered and swollen or have symptoms of heat stroke or heat exhaustion. These symptoms include.

1.     Having a raised temperature

2.     Feeling hot and shivery

3.     Exhaustion

4.     Dizziness

5.     Nausea

6.     Headache

7.     Muscle cramps

8.     Confusion

9.     Seizures

10. Slurred speech

11. Fast speech or rapid breathing

Occasionally, people with severe sunburn may need hospital treatment, particularly if they also have a heat stroke.
If you have any questions or need technical assistance with your boat, give us a call, and we'll be happy to help with whatever we can. It is always best to send us an email, so we both have less chance of miscommunication unless it's urgent; then please call us. As always, have a wonderful time on the beautiful Grand, and have a safe boating season.

Things you should know about your warranty!

Are you looking to purchase a used boat that still has a warranty policy on it? Many people don't know that the warranty on a boat and engine does not automatically transfer to the new owner. There is a warranty transfer process that needs to take place. That process can look different from one manufacturer to another. Some manufacturers require a warranty inspection to be performed by a certified dealer prior to transferring the warranty. If you have any questions about your warranty policy, feel free to contact our service department and speak with our warranty administrator.

ARROWHEAD REMODEL RECOGNITION
I Have been wanting to recognize the people responsible for making the Arrowhead renovation possible. Starting with the architect they all just did a magnificent job. Taking what was an 80-year-old cabin, that had been expanded 8 different times, and producing the finished building was more than challenging. How they brought all those different floors and roofs together and it looks like it does was really challenging. Our general Contractor LEGEND GENERAL CONTRACTORS, Ketchum, Oklahoma.  Headed up by Ron & Marlo Lee and Dustin & Emily Lee. Steered us to an excellent architect GHD Interiors, Designer Brenda Rice.
We were already friends with the Lee family and had been for years. This is what happened.
1.     When the project was over, we were even better friends
2.    The project was not only completed on time, it was completed a week early. (we told Ron we had to be open by Memorial Day) We opened the week before Memorial Day.
3.    And most importantly, the project was completed on budget!
4.    Tom Mckibben did an excellent job of managing the day to day, crisis-to-crisis decisions, that got us completed on time!

I totally recommend this list of craftsmen for the sunning, extensive, and beautiful finished product. WELL DONE AND THANK YOU! All mechanical equipment, HVAC, coolers, and freezers have been moved out of our flood-prone basement.
LOOKING AHEAD AND BACK TO BUSINESS!
Aquapolooza is this Saturday in the back of Duck Creek. A giant raft out party Saturday afternoon. It always draws a huge crowd and hundreds of participants. All boating activities are great now. The weather is predictable and HOT! I won’t complain; I hate winter and cold weather. I still remember shoveling snow off the tops of docks in years past. This is better, no matter how hot it gets!

HAPPY 82ND BIRTHDAY, GRAND LAKE!

OVERNIGHT RAFT OUT &
WOODSTOCK ON WATER AUG 12-13TH
What a better way to celebrate the 82nd birthday of Grand Lake, than having an overnight raft out in Leon Russell Cove Friday night. We will anchor up our floating island. Cook dogs and Brats beginning at 7. You just need to bring a covered dish. Sat. morning, we will provide Breakfast Burritos & Bloody May’s. VIP will be selling Pizza’s at 11. KIDS DAY AT CYC SUNDAY, AUGUST 14TH
You can see we are going to Rock, boat, and raftout all the way to Labor Day. We are going to party like Schools out forever and not acknowledge the reality of school starting till after Labor Day. I will provide excuse notes to all students as to why they will not be attending school till after Labor Day! After all, it is HOT, it’s lake time, and the Grand Lake water is clear. I dare anyone to go to school! MAGA……………..Make America Great Again! Bring back the good old days, “No school starts till after Labor Day!” That is the way it’s going to be in Ketchum this year. If we can do it this year, why not next year? You can always just enroll your kids in Ketchum Schools. And they have a brand new expansion. Don’t visit…..Move to Grand Lake.

There is a new Members amenity at CYC. We now have our own private tie-up Island on the North end of the guest slips. We have just recently covered the breakwater with pavers from the end of the guest slips all the way around to the entrance and planted palm trees on the Island. Members are welcome to tie-up down both sides. Be sure and put your bumpers out. Dock padding is not on yet. There are tie-up cleats all the way around.

You can now tie up on the island. You are within walking distance to the pool, cabana, and Club. Stay all day, party all night, and stay tied up to the secure island overnight. No need to drive home in the dark, no need to anchor out and then try and pull up and untangle an anchor and line! Sleep like a baby all night knowing your tie-up spot is safe and secure. This is really going to help with special Club events. Especially an event like the Christmas Light Boat Parade. Or any weekend for that matter. New tie-up, party spot on Duck Creek.
The SUN is rising over Duck Creek. No cars, no traffic, and the ONLY thing we overlook is the LAKE! And it is GRAND!

Governor Matt Pinnell, NASA Astronaut, and Commander John Herrington, and Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) President Mark Baker will address teachers and industry leaders to celebrate the growth of aviation and aerospace education in the state. Media are invited to attend the sold-out event as Pinnell makes a big announcement regarding the state’s top rank for the number of schools approved to teach the AOPA high school aviation curriculum starting this fall.
MEDIA EVENT:

National Weather Center
120 David L. Boren Boulevard
Norman, Oklahoma

Approximately 70 teachers from over 50 in-state public school districts and 20 out-of-state districts will gather at the University of Oklahoma on July 11-14 for intensive training in the implementation of the AOPA “You Can Fly” High School Aviation Curriculum. The four-day event will allow teachers the opportunity to participate in hands-on lab activities and to collaborate with teachers from across the nation on the best aviation and aerospace STEM practices. In addition to classroom sessions, teachers will have the opportunity to take discovery flights provided by the OU School of Aviation Studies, and to tour the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center.
On Tuesday evening, teachers and industry leaders will meet at OU’s National Weather Center to celebrate the growth of aviation and aerospace education in the state, and to discuss ways to partner in the building of programs that will ensure the growth of Oklahoma’s aviation, aerospace and defense industry workforce. Oklahoma Lt. Governor Matt Pinnell, NASA Astronaut and Commander John Herrington, and Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) President Mark Baker will address teachers and industry leaders to celebrate the growth of aviation and aerospace education in the state. Pinnell will announce the state’s top rank for the number of schools approved to teach the AOPA high school aviation curriculum starting this fall.
The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) selected Oklahoma as the first state outside of its home state of Maryland to host the “You Can Fly” High School Aviation Curriculum professional development program.
AOPA’s You Can Fly initiative is all about building the aviation community, getting more people into the skies, and keeping them there. The centerpiece of You Can Fly is the unique and free High School STEM Curriculum, ensuring that all of aviation has a bright future.
In the past school year, more than 12,000 students in 1,000 classrooms across the country, in all four grades, took the curriculum and learned about exciting opportunities in aviation.
