Dear Chamblee UMC Members & Friends,

I am writing on behalf of Bishop Robin Dease and District Superintendent Rev. Bryon Thomas, to announce the pastor appointments for the 2023-2024 year.

As you may know, the United Methodist Church has itinerant pastors, who are appointed for one-year commitments and move to where they are needed to best serve the conference. With that said, we are pleased to announce that we will be welcoming Rev. Minho Chung as our newly appointed Senior Pastor this summer. Rev. Chung is coming to us from Sugar Hill United Methodist Church in Buford, GA, and his official first day will be July 3rd, with his first Sunday being July 9th.

Rev. Minho Chung was born in Montgomery, Alabama, and has held various roles across different UMC churches. He enjoys coaching his sons’ baseball teams and spending time with his family. His wife, Janet, and three children, Noah (11), Jonah (9), and Abigail (6), will also be joining us, and we can't wait to welcome them.

While we are excited for this new appointment, we will miss Dr. Rev. Eric Lee who has been a part of our church since 2018. We wish him the best in his new appointment at Liberty Hill UMC and in his new role as the Director of First Impressions for the district. We will work with Rev. Lee on a transition plan over the next few months, and a goodbye celebration for him and his family will be on Sunday, June 25th.

Please join me in adding Rev. Chung and his family, Rev. Lee and his family, and Chamblee UMC to your prayers as we all prepare for the new appointments and pastoral changes.

Blessings,
