A Note from the Missions and Outreach Team

We are so blessed to have a wonderful and generous congregation. The Mission Team can only say humbly thank you! You have contributed $857 to the fund that will help furnish uniforms for the students at Cunningham School. Again, we are so blessed.

Our money for mission is funded by your pledges to our financial support. Again, you are most generous. At this month's meeting the team allocated $1000 to the People's Community Health Clinic; $1000 to the American Red Cross to help with disaster aid; $500 to the CROP Walk which helps with hunger in our community; and $2000 to the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, to help with earthquake recovery in Haiti and recovery in the South from Hurricane Ida. Last month an additional $1000 was given to help with recovery from forest fires in the West.

This year we have contributed mission funds to a variety of helpful agencies in Black Hawk County. Some of them include: House of Hope, Hawkeye Community College Family Literacy, Northeast Iowa Food Bank, Leader in Me, Girl Scouts, Boys and Girls Clubs, and Habitat for Humanity. We invite you to look at our bulletin board in the hallway to see additional information.

The Mission and Outreach Team again thanks you for your generous gifts. We also would like to invite anyone interested in joining our team to please let us know.
Amgad Beblawi to Speak This Sunday

Amgad Beblawi, our presbytery's Executive Presbyter for Mission, is coming again to share his thoughts on God's mission and the church. Join us THIS Sunday, September 12, before the worship service, 8:45 am in Calvin Hall. Amgad will also be preaching in the worship service. You won't want to miss it!
Thank You From Our Families!

Thank you to the Christian Nurture and Fellowship Team for delivering back-to-school goodies to the children and youth of the church! As Jackson Bass said, "It was a bag of all his favorite things!" What a wonderful surprise to start the Fall!
World Communion Sunday October 3rd

On October 3rd, World Communion Sunday, we celebrate that Christ's peace extends throughout all the world. We celebrate together at the communion table. We celebrate that we are offered the opportunity so dearly needed to continue God's work with active peacemakers here at home and around the world. Extending the peace is part of an active, engaged faith - a witness to what it means for us to be in the Church together.

Through participation in the Peace and Global Witness Offering, we are extending Christ's peace throughout our community and our world. We commit to building a more just and peaceful world. We will commit to building a more just and peaceful community because 25% of the offering will stay with our congregation to be given to Friends of the Family. Friends of the Family provides advocacy services for victims of domestic abuse, sexual assault, human trafficking and homelessness. Through this offering, may we find the truth found in 2nd Thessalonians, "Peace at all times in all ways". Let's celebrate peace on October 3rd through our Peace and Global Witness Offering.
