Sunday's Worship

Pastor Kellen’s 5th Anniversary

This Sunday, June 26 is Pastor Kellen’s 5th anniversary as Pastor/Head of Staff at First Pres after beginning his ministry in 2017! We are grateful for his preaching, leadership, and pastoral care in our congregation. Let us give thanks to God for his ministry and his family, Sarah, Hadley, Hudson and baby girl arriving this summer. Consider writing a note or care card in appreciation and sending it to him as a celebration of his ministry. Plan to come to worship this Sunday when we will have a reception in his honor after the service.
Maryna and Yarik from Ukraine in Worship

In light of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, our congregation has been generous in responding to such great need. We have recently been able to offer our support closer to home. Our own Facility Manager, Scott Rice, has just welcomed family members Maryna and Yarik who have fled from the violence in Ukraine. This week during worship, we will have an opportunity to meet them and hear their story. Make plans to come for this special moment this Sunday.

Retold: Sunday School Stories You Thought You Knew

This summer series takes a closer look at the Sunday school stories we are most familiar with, either from teaching them or being taught them when we were kids. As we zoom in for a closer examination of these stories, we will see how they fit into God’s overall story in the Bible and how they inform our understanding of the gospel.

Opportunity To Help

Earlier this year our congregation generously supported an effort to provide Welcome Packs for refugees from war and unrest. By doing so we supported our Mission partner Exodus World Relief.

We have another incredible opportunity to serve victims of war, and this opportunity is very close to us. Scott Rice, our Facilities Manager on staff, has family directly affected by the war in Ukraine. After relentless effort, his family members have arrived and are able to live with Scott’s family for two years. They arrived with little in the way of possessions and clothing. Maryna and Yarik could use our support in a time of need.

How can you help?
You can buy items (new please) from the list in the link below and drop them off at the Church Office with a gift receipt, if possible. As an alternative, you can drop a gift card to the office for “Maryna,” send a check to the church with “Maryna” in the memo or give online selecting “Mission for Maryna” in the drop-down menu to properly direct your contribution. The Mission Committee will shop to make sure Maryna and Yarik receive what they need.

Thank you for your generosity and support of people in need.

Volunteer Opportunities
Office Volunteers

We are in need of Office Volunteers to lend a hand in the church office on Mondays through Fridays. Volunteers work in four-hour shifts from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. or 12:30-4:30 p.m. only one (1) shift per week. Responsibilities include: answering phones, updating church calendar, proofreading materials, greeting visitors, coordinating mailings, etc. It is a rewarding way to get involved with the church! If you are interested, please contact Debbie Veal or call the church office at 630-668-5147.
Check the First Pres calendar regularly for updates.
