It's that time of year again! The town is buzzing as school starts up for everyone from our own Trinity Stepping Stones Preschool and Alachua County Schools to Santa Fe College and the University of Florida. Go Gators!
It's also an exciting time of year for Trinity as ministries shift into full gear. This August we are especially excited to "Celebrate 60" years of Trinity and look ahead to a vibrant future as we "Remember, Rejoice, and Renew."
This Sunday we'll have two services at 9:30 and 11:00, and we'll be celebrating Trinity's initial chapter (approximately the first 40 years) as we remember the strong foundation on which Trinity was grounded and the powerful ministry of those years. We'll hear a word from some of our founding members as well as celebrate 45 years of our weekday ministry with preschoolers. The service will include a blessing of our current teachers along with welcoming home all the former directors.
Next Sunday, August 18, we'll celebrate the next 20-ish years, with ONE worship service at 9:30, rejoicing about being on the move with God as we relocated to 53
Avenue and continued to be in ministry with and in this community. You won't want to miss it, as we welcome back Rev. Dan and Jan Johnson, Trinity's immediate former pastor and his wife. Dan will be preaching the sermon that day, and I know you'll want to hear what God has to say through him. We look forward to having them around Trinity and Gainesville.
We will also be welcoming Trinity's 3
pastor and his wife, Rev. Dale and Lucy Harward, as well as several other associate pastors, staff, and spouses and those who have come out of Trinity and gone into ministry. You can look forward to seeing Rev. David Dodge, Rev. Mike Ratliff, Rev. David Lindsay, Rev. Mark Becker, Rev. Drew Weseman, and Laura Easter Rainwater as well as Jean Evans and others who are still a part of Trinity.
After worship be sure to stay and enjoy getting to see old friends and meet new ones with heavy hors d'hoeuvres and refreshments in the Worship Center, the Atrium, and out back under the shade of the North Oaks playground. There will be plenty of seats and air conditioning as well as plenty of room for kids to run and play, so sit and enjoy the company.
On August 25 at 9:30 and 11:00, we'll look forward to Trinity's future, to renewing vital ministries and embracing our vision for the next chapter. Steve's sermon will include a conversation with a couple of members from the vision team. Again, plan to stay after the 11:00 service and enjoy lunch with family and friends with food trucks and activities for kids.
Then on September 1, we'll resume the schedule with three services on Sundays: 8:15 in the Chapel and 9:30 and 11:00 in the Worship Center.
I hope you're as excited as we are about celebrating what God has done through the people of Trinity and moving into the vibrant future God has in store for us in this community. We are and will continue to be grateful to serve with you on this journey of ministry!
