The bows are on the lanterns outside; the tree is lit and decorated; I've almost finished decorating the rest of the house; and there are a few presents already wrapped and under the tree. It's that time of preparation and anticipation. Preparation for family and friends and the celebrations of the season...and most importantly preparation and anticipation for the celebration of the coming of Christ.
The word Advent comes from the Latin word meaning coming or arrival. And it's during these 28 days leading up to December 25 that we eagerly wait and anticipate the celebration of the birth of Christ, God coming to us in the flesh. Just as children bubble over with excitement as they can hardly wait until Christmas morning, what would it look like for us to have the enthusiasm and wonder of a child as we anticipate the greatest gift of all, the gift of God's love incarnate for us.
As you stand on tiptoe anticipating the arrival, come join the celebration with Trinity and be a part of some wonderful offerings in the next two and a half weeks.
Sunday morning, as we continue singing our way to the manger, we'll remember Mary's song. The 11:00 service will also include some of the pieces from the Adult Combined Choir Cantata.
And on Sunday (or before), be sure and purchase your tickets to the Family Christmas Dinner on Wednesday, December 13 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. You can also enjoy the Children's Live Nativity during that same time either before or after you eat. The Cantata begins at 7:30 (no tickets necessary). The entire evening is a great opportunity to invite your friends and neighbors for a very special evening.
Sunday, December 17
is another great opportunity with a family Christmas Party at Skate Station from 4-7p.m. Enjoy skating, mini golf, go-carts and rock climbing. Santa will be there as well. Again, admission is free. Bring your family; bring your friends; and bring some cookies to share!
