Happy official first day of summer, June 21! I hope you are surviving the heat and enjoying an intentional change of pace. As you do so, Steve and I, along with the leadership of Trinity, have an invitation for you. We are encouraging everyone who is a part of Trinity to read the book Anatomy of Peace, and be a part of one of the four-week studies on Anatomy of Peace being offered this summer. For the past two weeks in worship, we've shared a video about this book
and the impact its understanding can have on us as individuals and our world. While not a specifically Christian book, it is very much in line with Jesus' teaching in the way that it encourages us to have a heart at peace toward one another and to live with compassion and understanding toward others in this very polarized and contentious time.
I read the book for the first time more than a year ago, and it was incredibly impactful to me in terms of how I might approach a broken relationship in my life. It has helped to bring healing and peace to my heart. Almost without fail, everyone who has read this book has talked about what a powerful influence it has had on them and their approach to others with whom they are struggling in one way or another (in their family, in their work environment, in their circles of connection).
to see the video and sign up to be a part of one of these groups. Steve and I will be leading one beginning July 1, and we welcome you.
Finally, although is the first day of summer, Trinity has already kicked off the beginning of a wonderful summer of ministry and outreach. Vacation Bible School reached many kids in our community as they experienced "Rolling River Rampage" and learned that living with Christ can be the ride of your life.
The Sonlight Youth Choir and Band just returned from Alabama where they offered music, were engaged in mission, and experienced the history of the civil rights movement and how it does and can continue to impact us today. This week we offered the first of six weeks of Summertime Fun and Crosstrainers, our camps for kids age 1 through 7
This Sunday as we go deeper into the book of Ephesians, we'll also begin a new worship series, "Together: For the Sake of the World." This little letter in the Bible calls us to unity as it reminds us that we are blessed to be a blessing. Along with this series, for the next six weeks we'll celebrate a "Month of Missions" inviting you to bring particular items for donation each week and stay after worship for our Summer Sunday Lunches at noon.
Have a great weekend and I'll see you Sunday as we share Sabbath together.
Grace and Peace,
