This past Monday, it was a privilege to gather with other faith leaders in our community for a press conference on the steps of City Hall as we read aloud our collaborative statement claiming Gainesville to be a city of 'peace, love, and unity' with members of the ACFLA.
As we had shared with you last week regarding the events of today, President Fuchs, along with Campus Police, the Gainesville Police Department, and the Alachua County Sheriff's Office, have urged "everyone to stay away from Mr. Spencer and his followers and the Phillips Center where he will speak and the media will be assembled." Instead of being downtown, I would like to invite you to come by our Trinity Chapel anytime from 2pm to 5pm to pray, light a candle, meditate on God's Word, and to declare with your presence that we are - and will - remain a community "rooted and grounded in love."
This week we will conclude our current message series, "theSkim: theBiblein6weeks" with an exploration of Revelation and the good news it offers that we worship and serve a God who is at work in the world today 'making all things new' and will come again in final victory - proving once and for all that love really does conquer hate and that light really can overcome the darkness. Be that light today!
I hope to see you in worship this Sunday!
Peace, love and unity,
PS - Just a reminder that we have noticed a number of snakes on our property due to the higher water levels. Some snakes spotted have been poisonous. PLEASE be mindful at all times when walking the property.
