Dear Church Family

With mixed feelings I am sharing that Veronica Dillon, Communications Director has submitted her resignation effective Sunday June 25th. We are heart-broken to lose such a wonderful member of our staff. Veronica’s husband has been commuting to the lower valley for his work. Veronica has accepted a leadership position of Family Ministry with First United Methodist Church in Harlingen. I anticipate this will be a wonderful blessing for Veronica; with all her children out of school, the Dillons can relocate close to her husband’s place of employment. As you may know, Veronica does so much for this church family. The job she holds was designed by our church just for her! We realize it is impossible to find another Veronica, but we trust that God has wonderful things ahead for us. Please pray for our search and selection process as we seek the next staff person to join this amazing team. Feel free to spread the word of our search and direct any potential candidates to contact the church office for more information. Finally, I would like to ask for your patience as we are lacking a solid volunteer media/ sound team. We may experience a few hiccups during the transition. We ask for your patience and kindness as we look, not only for a new team member, but also for a strong volunteer team to come alongside that new person.

We are a Faith Family for all, serving all.

Dear McFirst Church Family,

It has been a privilege to be a part of the McAllen First UMC for the past nine years. The Dillon Family is relocating to the Harlingen area as we begin our new chapter as “empty nesters”. Our relocation will help Steve’s commute to work to Los Fresnos; his work is primarily in Cameron and Willacy Counties and since we are becoming empty nesters this will ease his work commute. I stumbled upon an opening in the harlingen area; FUMC Harlingen offered me the position of Director of Family Ministries and I could not be more excited to accept. Thank you for your support, trust, and prayers during my time serving as part of the McFirst staff. We will miss the numerous friendships and members that have helped shape the lives of our kids these past few years. My family’s last Sunday in worship service will be June 26th. This provides us a month to plan next steps during this transitional phase and how we can best prepare support for our McFirst family.
